I’m a big fan of Eno’s and it’s a crime that nothing comes up when you do a search for him. I wanted to change that. A call to arms to the domed one’s fans!
I’m more of a fan of Eno’s production work (from classics like Low and Remain in Light to Laid and the Passengers album), but Another Green World, Here come the warm jets, and Taking tiger mountain by strategy are essential listening.
Funny that he’s one of the world’s most recognizable artists from the Windows 95 sound.
But baby’s on fire
and all the intruments agree that
her temputure’s rising
and any idiot would know that…
This song may have the greatest guitar solo of all time.
Back when I was doing my radio show my standard line was “I’m feeling positively (sp?) Enoid this evening” and I would launch into an extended set of BE. I used two different tape loops “under” my voice when I spoke and one was the guitar from “Sky Saw”. I have said for years that if I ever get an elevator it would play Eno.

I remember a man
Who jumped out from a window over the bay
There was hardly a raised eyebrow

fishbicycle, I was listening to that just last night–but not by Eno. I finally got around to buying Doug Hilsinger and Caroleen Beatty’s recreation of the entire Taking Tiger Mountain album. It’s very faithful to the original arrangements for the most part, although Hilsinger gives everything a a more hard-edged grunge-rock sound. Hardly essential, but fun.
Ooooooooh! I got that album about a month ago! Very cool, especially Beatty’s vocals!
Any chance they’ll do Before and After Science next?
“…There was a senator from Ecuador
Who talked about a meteor
That crashed on a hill in the south of Peru
And was found by a conquistador
Who took it to the emperor
And he passed it on to a Turkish guru…”
…plus the first Roxy Music album, plus his collaborations with Robert Fripp, David Byrne, John Cale…
Eno’s one of the great, yet relatively obscure cultural icons and influences of our era. For over 30 years, he’s been a perennial beacon of what’s
I’ve been eye-balling this one for awhile now. Like to get it but still haven’t bought all of the Eno remasters yet.
aw, ambient 3 wasn’t included in the new remasters!
