Southern Baptist here. But please, no stereotyping. I’m more moderate than a Fundie but still consider myself a conservative. And as far as faith is concerned, the one thing I become more and more sure of is this: the more I know, the more stuff I find out that I don’t know. For me, it’s all about the relationship, not the religion. I also don’t wander over to GD much but maybe this thread has given me the boldness to speak my mind from time to time. Thanks all and God bless us, everyone!
So you’re a Southern Baptist. Which I, being an atheist, take to mean that you’re ignorant, racist, arch-conservative and evil. But you picked as your handle a quote from The Simpsons, which means that you must be smart, funny and enlightened. Ack! Contradiction! Brain overload!
Anyhow, I just thought I’d crash your thread an announce that I am not a Christian, no how, no way. And I’m doing my best to singlehandedly puff out my cheeks and make you all feel not welcome (steam comes out of Max’s ears).
I seriously hope you arent meaning that last part.
Church of Christer here. Pleased ta meet ya.
Practising Anglican checking in. Not much good at it, but still practising.
:: grabs Tygr and pulls her (him?) to the front. ::
No, we Lutherans sit in the front!.
Another proud Lutheran checking in. I know there’s at least a double handful of us here.
Since we’re including our specific flacor of Christianity I’m Lutheran. Lex Lutheran. The rock our chuch was founded on is Kryptonite! BWAHAHAHAHA Superman doesn’t stand a chance!!!
No, actually ELCA. Unfortunately due to conventions of Arizona architechture we don’t have a church basement but the coffee is always hot and we have some dang good church lady cooking in our congregation.
I always new SDMB was diverse but this thread shows me a wider spectum of Christians than I thought.
Max, you’re not scaring anyway. Unpuff your cheeks, get a cup of coffee and go to the buffet table for one of the yummy hotdishes the ladies have prepared.
Padeye, who hopes that Jesus has a sense of humor
Yeah. Me too.
Yeah. Me too.
Roman Catholic checking in…
Of course Jesus has a sense of humor. Jesus is God, and God created the platypus…if THAT doesn’t demonstrate a sense of humor on His part nothing does
Sorry for that double post. Guess that just proves how “ignorant” (per Max) we So. Baptists are. And the “Yeah. Me too.” applies to ThatGuyWith Pants’s hope that Max was kidding. Yeah. Whatever. Ya’ll know what I mean.
Yo.
My church is non-denominational, but sorta Baptisty. And I’m actually a lot closer to fundie than most people would guess.
Need a hand with that?
sure…the more the merrier…then on with hymn sing
Hey, another gothy-looking Christian checking in. Raised Baptist, currently I attend a Non-denominational church.
sticks his fingers in MaxTheVool’s ears and waits to see what will happen
How about Diests? There’s more than a couple of us, y’know.
Don’t forget me.
I never could have endured the things I have gone through with out The Lord.
Right now there’s a Mennonite goth friend lying on my bed, mildly protesting the lack of Mennonites at the SDMB. Can he count as our token Mennonite?
Great. Where’s the food?
I’d say I have Christian leanings. I’m more of a Universalist though. Or maybe Pantheist…
Heck, I don’t know what I am anymore.
Backslider here. I’ve been churched to death sideways and choose not to participate. The religious stuff just doesn’t do it for me but I respect other folk’s faith. Cheers.
