So, I’ve been in Wichita stationed at McConnell AFB for about a week now, and I finally have a weekend now where I’m not doing anything. Any Dopers in town who feel like meeting up and hanging out? I sadly lack a car and there’s nothing to do on base here.
I’m in Topeka, which is a ways to drive by now. Maybe we can get a Dopefest together later this year? I have a house, and my tenant downstairs is also a Doper, and I know a couple others in KCMO and not too much further out!

Hey, if you guys have a Dopefest, put me on your list. I’m in Lawrence, and I missed the last KC area Dopefest a few years back because we were on vacation out in Colorado that weekend.

What about the fall, say, tentatively, Labor Day weekend? That could give folks time to plan or arrange time off.
We might consider it, depending on if the Mr. wants to. He’s very wary of such things.
I hope you’d come. There’d be plenty of room in the house, and since we’d have both floors, TWO, count 'em, TWO bathrooms!
The backyard is small but fenced, if you have kidlets. There’s a couple of good parks nearby for cookouts.
Other activities are around, and the Doper downstairs has a bigscreen TV.
Aye, we do make outings to Wichita sometimes. I love the Botanica, and the Zoo. It’s just that the Mr. doesn’t trust strangers much, especially strangers from online. (It takes a while to win him over, but it does me too.) I can’t blame him.
Zabali, I, Baker, am in Topeka. Is that closer to your actual location?
And hey, I think I can get a mod to vouch for me! I’ve been at several fests with SkipMagic. I met his wife before he did! Well, they weren’t married then you understand.
But no pressure. I was a little leery at first of new friends met online, but I haven’t been to a fest yet I didn’t like. I have this dream of winning the lottery, and leasing a motel, or floor in a good hotel, and having in all the Dopers and MagicBoarders that want to come, but might have been impeded because they couldn’t afford the trip.
Wichita is closer. We are in extreme South and East Kansas. ETA: Around Independence and Coffeyville.
Tentatively, Labor Day might work for me. The weekend before and the weekend after, believe it or not, are already spoken for.
We can’t do Labor Day, but we could do the Saturday prior to. The Mr’s days off are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. (He works ten hour days.) He will have to work on Labor Day.
Well, if folks would prefer the weekend before that would work. Shoeless said the weekend before was already spoken for, in his case. But if I take that whole week off I could be “open for fest” starting Thursday through Monday, Labor Day. Guests wouldn’t have to stay the whole time.
However it is done, Saturday is probably the best bet for the Mr. and I, whether it is on Labor Day Weekend, or at another time? 
I guess I should clarify – my entire weekend before Labor Day isn’t spoken for, but one of the days that weekend we’ll probably be doing something for my granddaughter’s birthday. I just have no idea this far in advance what we’ll be doing and on which day.
The weekend after Labor Day is definitely shot for me though.
In any case, don’t let me hold things up. If I can make it, I’ll make it, and if not, oh well.
Eh, might be better to work it so you can go, I’m working on talking the Mr. into going, but my Dad’s birthday is in the first week of September, and mine is very close to his. 
We’re still sorta tentative, you’d definitely come if you could.
