Or his actions in Guatemala. (And this is coming from someone who actually LIKES Ike!)
I think John Adams was a dick-once he got in office, with the Alien and Sedition Acts-considering he was one of the ORIGINAL Founding Fathers.
This isn’t the first time he’s come to the media with this message.
Is there reason to think he’s doing it for some subversive purpose? It seems to me that he really is concerned and simply is doing what he can to effect change in the absence of any true power. This mouthpiece is all he has now. Of course, he’s completely misguided, and the actions he’s taken in the past have caused irreparable harm, but isn’t frustration and restlessness a sufficient explanation for this one without stacking on charges of devious plotting?
Perhaps not to the extent of devious plotting, but I’m quite convinced that Cheney goes to bed each night and prays for the United States to be attacked. If Obama succeeds in fixing the economic mess, and there is no terrorist attack, then history will paint Cheney with a pretty nasty brush. And he knows this.
Come to think of it, George H.W. Bush was a former Veep who was almost as big a dick as Cheney . . . but, then, he had vaster opportunity.
Can anyone think of a reason what cheney has to lose at this point?
Almost everyone hates him, potential of war crimes action against him,no need to be in the public eye/no one cares until the trials start.
If he gets on the news, he might change opinions about himself by rewriting history, and just try to defend their actions… thats all he has left at this point.
I can not remember who, but didnt one of the ex presidents say that after he left office he felt he had to go out there and try to explain themselves because all of a sudden, no one was asking them anything and it was so strange to suddenly be insignificant in the public mind.
