So I’ve been polishing up the ol’ resume, my printer hasn’t worked in months and I don’t know how to make it work, and I’d like to just be able to fax off my resume from my computer. You used to be able to do this with Windows, now you have to have the office edition of Vista to do it. I have Home Premium. I don’t want to pay a service to be able to fax. I don’t have an old-fashioned phone modem- is it really necessary? What to do, what to do?
A lot of Vista users are happy with Snappy Fax (it’s free for 30 days). There are no free options for Home Premium.
Unless you use a faxing service such as suggested by XRV, a modem is necessary, because the fax machine on the other end is connected only by a phone line. Therefore, somebody, either you or a service you hire, must transmit the fax over a phone line, necessitating a modem.
That’s what I figured. I’ll check out the free 30-day service.
