I need free/cheap fax software to send docs from my PC (dial-up connection to Internet)

Something that used to be so easy has (seemingly) become so complicated!

I have a dial-up connection to the internet. I simply want to create Word docs inside my PC, then fax them to people.

I used to do this with no problem using BVRP PhoneTools fax software. But when I upgraded from Win98SE to XP the PhoneTools program stopped working. (And BVRP is essentially out of business these days.)

I’m looking to replace the PhoneTools application with something similar – at little or no cost. I’m having a hard time finding freeware or shareware program that handles a dial-up connection and is XP compatible. Anyone have a suggestion?

NOTE: My XP Operating System disk does not already come bundled with MS Fax. I have Service Pack 2; the free MS Fax program comes in Service Pack 3.

You’re not going to find a program to do it when the OS handles it, I’m afraid. I could have sworn Fax was in XP before service pack 3. Let me do more research.

Yeah. It’s just not installed by default. Try the following link to get it installed:

Great! I got it to work.

Thanks.

Who do you deal with that still uses fax?

Send it to them as a doc, or (better) print it to a pdf file and sens them that.
