I know there are dozens of mods in one form of another out there for HL2 - are any of them fun?
In a related question, is there any site that lists mods by player base? It’d be good to see a list based on popularity, so at least the mods you wanted to try would have active servers…
Am I the only one who finds OPs with tons of acronyms (which are never spelled out) incredibly lame and annoying? Are you trying to prove your 1337 status or what?

Your insult is baseless and stupid. I wasn’t writing the OP for someone who doesn’t know what HL2 is to read, so why would I spell everything out when there’s no need to and it isn’t the default mode to communicate about the game?

Are there people who’d think asking about “HL2 multiplayer mods” is a topic asking for recipes for soup? Or looking for reviews of pee-wees big adventure?
“HL2” is a common, well known acronym. Even if it weren’t, “multiplayer mods” makes it clear what it’s about.
Now, to say that I’m being ambiguous is one thing - but to condescendingly accuse me of being elitist because I’m using commonly known acronyms that people regularly use in casual conversation about the topic is just insulting and ridiculous.

I’ve played HL2 CTF, Plan of Attack, and Dystopia. Of those, CTF is the only one I’d recommend getting. If you do, we shall play it, since I hate Battlefield 2 now.
Excellent, that’s exactly the sort of thing I was looking for.

I keep turning back to Natural Selection, which is still for HL1. There isn’t a mod quite like it. I just wish they’d get a Source version out soon, lest they get lef tin obscurity.
As for the real thing, I think The Hidden: Source is pretty decent: a near invisible predator with melee weapons vs a bunch of guns.
Personally, though, I’m plenty happy with DOD for now. Fortress Forever is probably next on my list, but no telling when that will be out. And the aforementioned Natural Selection keeps promising something to come out on Source sometime in the future.
The truly insane concept mod, however, has to be the Empires mod where you have two huge capital ships fighting each other, fighter dogfights and ship to ship infantry combat. I’ll be interested to see if they can really get anything even approaching that working.
