I have a great online radio app on my phone that plays radio streams instantly, you have a bunch of countries, you select one, then you have a bunch of radio stations and that’s it, you can listen to (almost) any radio station in the world in seconds.
Are there any websites that do the same? Almost all of the sites I stumbled upon are just full of annoying links to the websites of the radio stations and those radio stations that are direct streams rarely actually work. Many of them also have really uncomfortable interfaces.
Great question. What app are you using on your phone?
I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve never even thought about listening to internet radio on my phone… but I would love to be able to choose between NPR stations, and some local (that apparently aren’t “local” anymore in the Age of the Tubes) stations like WHTZ in NYC or KAMP in LA.
(Now, if there was an app that could capture radio waves from 50 years ago, I could listen to “Beaker Street” with “Clyde Clifford” on KAAY-AM late at night, like I did on an old tube radio in grade school…)
TuneIn. Stations I like are WVLI(an eclectic mix of Forties through Eighties out of Kankakee, Illinois); 6IX (classic rock out of Perth, Western Australia); and KTRS (talk radio out of St. Louis, Missouri, mainly for the Paul Harris Show on Friday afternoons).
Pay no attention to that Free Trial thing in the upper right hand corner. That’s for the premium version and is not necessary to listen.
