Any Homestar Runner fans in the house?

Not sure if web 'toons belong in café society, but I figured it’s an artistic discipline in some way.

Anyway, I’ve been hooked on this site since I first followed a link to it off Fark.com. I’m addicted, absolutely addicted. The long toons are great, but what I can’t get enough of are Strong Bad e-mails. I’ve nearly fallen off my chair laughing at some of them. Strong Bad rules!

Plus there’s all the little things that make it great: the multiple menu screens, the new fluffy-puff marshmall ad (I keep some in my pocket for SECRET EATING) and the hidden links in most of the toons that lead you to a whole bunch of other stuff.

So yeah, go there: www.homestarrunner.com. If you don’t, you’re full of crap!

Everyone loves the Homestar Runner. He is a terrific athlete.

I think this is a great site. It’s got a surreal whimsy that is a welcome change from the PoMo cynicism that most web humor sites convey (not that there’s anything wrong with that).

The voice characterizations are hilarious too, although to churlishly nitpick, Homestar can veer dangerously close to Brak, while Strong Bad is the exact midpoint between Triumph The Insult Comic Dog and Father Guido Sarducci. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

My favorite Strong Bad segment is this one, in which Strong Bad displays his considerable guitar chops.

Oops . . . screwed up that link (although the error message is kind of amusing, in an insulting way).

Here’s the real link:

I like Coach Z. He just can’t say “Jorearghb!” I feel for the guy.

Strong Bad RULES!!!

I love Strong Bad’s interview of Homestar

Hoops, the guitar one is my absolute favorite, too.

“And the dragon comes in the niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!!!”

Nothing beats:

“I’m buyin’ you a pizza!”
SB’s mouth guitar comes in second.
Homestar Runner is the funniest thing on the web. Suppossedly, I went to college with one of the Brothers Chap (I believe Mr. Chapman used to hang out at my neighbor’s house and play with a band called Hi-Score - I kick myself for sitting around my house, drinking beer and listening to VU while others were creating genius work so close to me…the trials of the antisocial…) Last year a friend told me about some site that Chap used to do, and despite my skepticism, I must say it always makes my day better.
And that is my brush with greatness. Now if only it would rub off.

Absotively!

I woulda responded sooner, but Strong Sad and I were out searching for the Yello-Dello.

Is it time for the annual Halloween costume contest yet?

Dude, where did you find the link for the Fhqwhgads video? There’s a Strong Bad e-mail that uses Fhqwhgads, but there’s no secret links there. Help me out, man!

I’ve just gotten myself addicted to Homestar Runner.

It’s really really cool. Most of the time, for humor, I’m turning to websites like something awful, or Fark, or the Onion, or the Phil Hendrie show…but it’s all a brand of humor that thrives on heavy cynicism, and sarcasm. And that’s all good and well, I suppose…

But H*R is refreshingly…clean. But not without a little edginess here and there. It’s cute. It’s cool. It’s funny.

And I love the practically hundreds of little easter eggs scattered about the different pages.

Yeah, it was really cool when Roy was chasing Deckard and…

Oh. Homestar Runner.

Goof.

“Oooh-NO! You sank my Jenga-ship!”
“I sank your Jenga-ship?? We’re playing Connect Four.”

LOL Ashtar… I don’t know why, but remembering that practically has me in tears.

“Iiiiii’m savin’ the best for laaast!”

Damn, I love Homsar.

Hello, my name is Home Star Runner, and I’d like to welcome you to homestarrunner.net. It’s dot-com!!
C’mon, get in the boat, fish. C’mon get in the boat. Fish fish!

On my other hand, I’d have … a bullhorn. That way, everyone could hear all the important stuff I have to say.

I am still awesome.
Seriously.

A bullhorn? pfft!

Like having a bucket for a hand is gonna get me any chicks!

What was I thinking?

Strong Bad!!

That’s easy…horns. Look, I drew a little picture…so regal…so majestic…I could be the mascot of some band, or something. Hmm…in this oicture those horns kinda look like crossaints,

“Hey The Cheat. Your computer has too much computer in it. And not enough typewriter . . .”

I love the Horns one too. It took me a while to realize that on both of Strong Bad’s computers, you can adjust the brightness levels with the dial on the monitor. The site continues to impress me (although I was somewhat disappointed this year at Strong Bad breaking his Halloween trend of always dressing up as someone named Carmen).

SNenc: I realize you posted back in September, but the Fhqwgads video is in the TVGuide toons section.
Fun/annoying Homestar Runner story: for a while there, on the site there was a link that said “Homestar Runner fans in Boston, click here.” You click on it and it tells you that they were showing a Homestar cartoon and two unreleased Strong Bad emails at the Coolidge Theater.

I discovered this link two hours after the last showing of these Homestar cartoons. That’s not the annoying part.

I live on Coolidge Corner, and I can see the damn theater from my apartment window. That’s not the annoying part.

The annoying part is I was in the damn theater during one of the last showings, watching fucking bowling for columbine instead.
