Any interest in a spring Chicago Dopefest?

Yeah, I am giving up part of Lollapalooza for this. Oh, well.

August 3rd, Saturday, 1:00, D’ Augustino’s.

  1. CK Dexter Haven
  2. Tim R. Mortiss
  3. Dalej42
  4. Lochdale
  5. fisha
  6. Mean Old Lady

I may be able to make August 3. Put me down as a definite maybe.

I should be able to make it.

It’s the D’Agostino’s on 1351 W. Addison, right?

I am making that same assumption, Number

See y’all there! Has someone reserved a table? Do we have a banner, so we can find each other?

Can’t imagine Dags being that busy at 1 PM on a Saturday but I’m happy to make a reservation.

I love it when a plan comes together.

I don’t know the place, but having a reservation under “Cecil Adams” would enable us to find each other easily. I was once invited to a DopeFest in London, and someone apparently came into the pub but couldn’t find us, so left disappointed. (Yelling “Anyone here with Straight DOPE?” in the middle of a pub was viewed as risky.)

ADDED: Oh, damn. I looked at the calendar wrong – it’s not until next week. I’ll be there, but I certainly screwed up my plans for today! Senility ain’t what it’s cracked up to be. Color me embarrassed. (In self-defense, we use a school-year calendar, so July 29 is the date to change over to the new calendar.)

I always carry a copy of the Chicago Reader with me. Looks like you can make a reservation right from their website.

Harumph.
If even half the list show up (though historically, they won’t), this looks to be the best attended ChiDope in years with a bunch of folks I’ve never met.
It really is my far NW side block party that day but I’m going to try to get over there, if only for an hour or something.
My chances are poor enough that I’ll say don’t even put me on the list but the early start time is favorable.

So now we have to think about the hard part, what kind of pizza does everyone like, I prefer deep dish or stuffed, and I love sausage, also like spinach if it is a deep dish or stuffed pie.

Sorry, doll! Maybe we’ll see you, and if not, there’s always next time.

I’ll make this easy on everyone. I’m the least picky eater ever, so long as it’s delicious. So thin crust or deep dish, meaty or veggie, this or that, bla bla bla. Make it good and I’m good.

I’m trying to do Weight Watchers, so I’d prefer vegetarian and thin-crusted. However, I can always find a side salad or somethin’.

Looking at their menu, I’d eat the following toppings in just about any combination:

Shrimp
Anchovies
Green Peppers
Fresh Mushrooms
Onions
Garlic
Giardiniera
Jalapenos
Black Olives
Sliced Tomatoes
Sun Dried Tomatoes
Red Peppers
Yellow Peppers

I always think of thin crust when I think of D’Ag’s pizza, but maybe that’s just me. They do have deep dish and stuffed. Anyone wanting to do research can check out their details here:

Arghghg! Ninja-ed!

I have made a reservation for 9, Cecil Adams, 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 3.

1351 W. Addison Chicago, IL 60613

Anyone know if there’s any parking around there?

I don’t know that particular zone well, but much of the North Side has gone to a parking system where you buy a parking stub from a machine. It’s around two dollars an hour, plus or minus depending on the neighborhood. You put your cash or a credit card into a machine, get a printout, and display it on your dashboard.

The downside is, parking is no longer free. The upside is, parking IS available, if you are willing to part with a couple of bucks for the privilege. Ayn Rand would be proud.

Dublin are playing Cork at 1 PM on Saturday so If I make it I will be late. Sorry as I enjoyed the last Chicago Doperfest that I attended but I can’t miss Dublin in the All-Ireland quarter finals!
