Any knitters/crocheters want to volunteer to make goofy hats? [UPDATE: Cancer is gone!]

They’re AWESOME!!! Including the one you made - It’s like a hedgehog with a long tail - love it!!!

Thank you so much!

Katie’s are awesome, mine’s just a lightweight acrylic in an open weave… nightcap? I’m just learning, but Kate’s an art major, and quite possibly the most fun, kind-hearted person on earth. She’s always ready to do fun things for others

The colors in the pics are kind of washed-out. The colors are primarily red; no pink. I think a boy will wear most if not all, and if he rejects any, maybe they can be passed on to other patients. Rooting hard for the kid

I think I saw it in a Meijers Store a few weeks back. Right next to the other Crush Flavors…orange, grape, etc.

I sew. Hats made out of jersey knit or fleece is something I can do…you know, hats with bug eyes or elephant ears?

Well you must know I’m not going to turn down a bug eyed elephant eared hat! He would love it if you have some spare fabric around and want to whip something up!

Humm - maybe it’s not in Canada? I haven’t even seen grape in about 20 years.

Okay, here’s my contribution. Overall length – a tad over 3 feet.

I need to attach the pom pom, but I’ll be mailing next week. Alice, is the address I have for the craft exchange the one I should use?

Yay! It’s lovely!

Same address please, and our postal strike is done so these beauties should start arriving this week!

Uh oh – it was supposed to be goofy …

The first round of hats has been delivered and they are a HUGE hit!

First was Baker’s Magical Propeller Beanie of Health. It was accepted and treated with the reverence such a garment deserves.

Next came the beige mushroom hat from ** Troppus** Josh put it in and waived his arms saying ‘I’m a mushroom! I’m a mushroom!’

Finally he put on the purple and red Afro hat. He started screaming and jumping around with glee!

Thank you so much ladies - you’ve made a sweet little boy very happy.

I’m glad the beanie has found a good home. Several years ago I got it at WorldCon, where that hat was one of the most popular souvenirs at the con.

Another Doper once wore it, when she had chemo, and she sent me a picture. If you can post pics(I know there may be privacy issues) that would be great.

Ha ha laughing and crying thank you so much, alice_in_wonderland, for thinking of this. Any requests will be met with terrific enthusiasm, whether for your near-nephew or for any of his mates in the hospital. You are Good People.

My week got seriously screwy here, so I haven’t mailed yet – next week, promise.

Yay! The lovely (and goofy!) strawberry hat from vifslan has just arrived!

it’s a beauty, and i think the size is perfect! it will be delivered this weekend - thank you so much!

And now, after much delay (on my part!) the fabulous long stripey noodley pom-pom hat has arrived!!

It is fabulous - thank you so much twickster!.

The last (I think) delivery of hats will be heading over this weekend, baring any unforeseen circumstances!

Thank you again to everyone - Josh is really loving his new hats!

Ah, good, I was starting to get nervous that it had been confiscated at the border or something.

UPDATE!

So, after all this time, I’m very pleased to advise that Josh had his final checkup/scan earlier in the month and he is now officially CURED!!!

Cancer is gone and not coming back! Thank you again to everyone who created a hat for him - it was a bright spot in what was a very difficult time for his family, and many of the hats are still in rotation for both he and his younger sister when a situation calls for goofiness.

You all did a really nice thing.

What wonderful news!

I was all geared up to knit a hat before I noticed how old the thread was. drat. Excellent news tho!

I’ve updated the title for you.
