Any knitters/crocheters want to volunteer to make goofy hats? [UPDATE: Cancer is gone!]

I’ve started knitting. It’s going to be red and have some variegated floppy attachments. I’m still deciding exactly how the attachments will work. This is fun!

Yay! I totally moved to ‘like’ this post! DOH!
Stupid facebook!

The local Military Family Resourc Centre is having a sale - they have “do-rag” hats and camo painter’s hats.

Does he like Army stuff?

Umm - it’s not really his thing. He likes really bright colours and camo tends to be a bit understated.

Once again, we have a Pabst Blue Ribbon Thread.

A goofier hat, I know none. I urge you all to bring back the Spirit of '76.

Or, ya know, you could take me much less literally and use Orange Crush Cans, if his favorites are orange.

Strawberry Crush if you can get ahold of it.

Or Coke cans, 'cus they’re red and that’s his fav. Sadly, I am so hopeless at crochet there’s no chance I could pull that off.

You’re right, it IS super goofy though!!

But, that’s my point. Coke isn’t 70’s enough, not the right emblem. What color do you think a Strawberry is? Got my Orange Crush.

And where exactly would a person find Strawberry Crush???

I’ve never even heard of such a thing.

Okay, not photogenic at all and hate to take pics, but wanted to show you the adorable hats my best friend Katie is working on. I’m working on a couple, too, but they won’t be nearly as awesome.

Imgur

We’d like to ship to your buddy on Monday if you could PM an address

Hat #1 is done!

(I bought batteries for my digital camera so I could take pictures but now I can’t find them… I think my house eats stuff sometimes)

Found 'em!

This is so awesome!!! He’s going to love it - really, the bright red colour is his fave!

Thank you so much! I can’t actually see any pics in your link (it just says there are none available for me to view), but I’m sure they will be awesome - I’ve PMd you the mailing address!

I’m having everything shipped to me just so I can bundle it all up and deliver it to him in one or two batches - when there’s no one at home a lot of time packages will have to be picked up and it’s a bit of a pain in the butt to go 10 times when they’re barely making it home from hospital.

Thank you so much everyone - he’s been having a very tough time with the chemo and I think the goofy hats will really cheer him up!

Chemo’s one of the most awful things anyone can go through even as an adult, I can’t even imagine how awful it must be for a little kid (at least an adult knows “this sucks but it can save my life”)

I hope the hats cheer him up. I know I’m having a blast making them… Hat #2 is coming along nicely (that one’s an onion-yes, there is a theme here  )

alice_in_wonderland, I just met my friend for lunch, and didn’t have a box big enough to stuff all the goodies into. My husband donated some baseball cards, couple balsa airplanes and other small items as well. Katie wanted to see her hats modeled so I slammed up some more quick pics. If any of these don’t suit him, I hope you or your friend can pass them along
The curly hat is my favorite.

I fixed the link, alice. Should be public now. My friend loved working on these, and I guarantee she knitted lots of prayers in. Thank you for taking care of things like this for your friend and her family; I can’t imagine the stress and fear. They are lucky to have you around.

Humm - well, I still can’t see them, (it says the account is set to private) but I’m sure they’re adorable! Thank you so much to you and your friend for doing this - it will brighten the day of a very sick little boy.

It was public, had several views and then I got an uncool comment from an…admirer? I’ll PM you an invite, and if anyone else participating in this thread, wants to see the hats my buddy made (and the one lame hat I contributed; I’m new at the yarn arts) PM me and I’ll give you access.

Well, darn it, the “Guest Pass” function doesn’t seem to be working. Just made them public, but I will probably take them down before bed. Not sure where the person who commented found the pics, but if he came from this site…Dude: cool it. It’s 90+ degrees, and I’m wearing a baggy, rather modest tank top. This is about the silly hats. Be nice.

For the rest of you, feel free to point and laugh. A couple of these hats are hilarious :stuck_out_tongue:
