I was looking at a site about federal holidays (thanks to a question in IMHO) and the header image to the page was this really nice photo of Table Rock. If I walk to the end of my driveway, walk another couple of hundred feet down the road, and look down the length of my next-door neighbor’s field, I can make out Table Rock (from pretty much the same angle as that photo) on the horizon around 30 miles away.
Wrigley Field from my apartment building although my own apartment doesn’t have a view

The Gulf of Mexico.
I can see the Cathedral of Saint Paul from my window, but you can probably see it from any top-floor apartment or window in the city; kind of why they built it there. I can also see La Cucaracha, which is not likely to be as famous.
I can see “The Cube” atop Mt Umunhum and Lick Observatory on Mt Hamilton from my driveway.
I can’t think of any landmarks close to me. Naval Air Station Patuxent River is about 20 miles away, and Point Lookout, the southernmost point of the state, is about 35 miles away. But nothing in my immediate area - heck, mostly what I see from my house are my neighbors’ houses and trees.
No, but you can see rocket launches from here. At night when they were doing shuttle launches, I’d say that counted as a landmark since you could see the distinctive Shuttle silhouette clearly illuminated by the flames even from more than 20 miles away. But a rocket just looks like a rocket.
We’re in Building C. From the roof of Building A and maybe Building B, you can see part of Diamond Head.
15ish yrs ago, I could sit on my couch and look just above the tv out the window and see the Hollywood sign.
Now, not quite from my house, but I can go down to the corner and see the Warner bro water tower where the animaniacs live.
Is Lake Superior a landmark? If so, I can see it from that one window in the upstairs bathroom in the winter, when the leaves are off the trees.
I can see Table Mountain from my house, but the same can be said by virtually everyone in this city…
That makes sense: Meridian and 280. I can see the Cube from my bedroom (it’s on the 2nd floor). I should be able to see Lick, but my neighbor’s house is in the way.
I was originally going to opine that lakes and oceans are not landmarks, but famous ones literally are: shared geographic knowledge one can easily use to navigate. You can tell someone “if you hit the ocean you’ve gone too far” and they’ll know what you mean. By that reckoning, I’ve spent 2-3 years on a shoreside house on Lake Erie when I was young.

Depending upon time of day, day of month, & cloud cover, I can see the sun, moon, & some constellations; do they count?
Can’t quite see it from my place, but Grandfather’s House is a short walk away.
Have you ever been up there? I haven’t. Am curious.
ETA:
You too, John, have you?
What is even worse is that *they * can see *you. *
You betcha it is!
Well actually, it is a watermark.
:)Jeez, I crack myself up.
I never looked, but a workman I hired knew where my road was by a dead 'coon that was near.
