According to IMDB he (Chuck Lorre) produced and wrote for aforementioned shows. I liked Roseanne for the most part, and TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) can be fairly entertaining too.
They have clips on CBS.com and full episodes are on itunes.com ($1.99 a pop).
Doesn’t look like it, just clips on cbs.com. Get with the program, CBS!
NBC and Fox shows are on hulu.com. You can even see the season premiere of Life now, it doesn’t air until next week.
I left out (forgot) that he also wrote for Grace Under Fire. Hmm, Roseanne Barr, Cybill Shepard and Rhett Butler. Not hard to see why he’s misogynistic in 2.5 Men. I did like the CSI (Las Vegas) crossover that he produced, in which many different people had strong motives for murdering the star of a series similar to all of the above (but most similar to Roseanne, including a Tom Arnold sort of character).
My husband and I both love it, but unfortunately missed it last night!
No, it’s Barenaked Ladies.
I’ve never watched a full episode, but I’ve caught bits and pieces and I love Sheldon. He’s a fantastic actor and yeah, he gets the best lines.
I get an extra kick out of watching him because I’m always reminded of the breakfast scene in Garden State.
“By the way, it says ‘BALLS’ on your face.”
Crap I forgot it was on yesterday! I was at the gym. I really need to program Media Center again to record my shows. I love Big Bang Theory. It looked dumb at first but I gave it a try and really enjoyed it.
I love this show and the theme song (yeah, I’m the one shouting “we built the pyramids” like a dork during the intro).
I didn’t get into it until late. I thought it was a stupid, formulaic premise, but it’s turned out to be my favorite sit com.
And I’m still snickering at Sheldon’s tic(k) joke!
I like the way Sheldon tried to laugh at the joke too.
And him telling the Indian guy that he must not be very familiar with Indian cinema was hilarious.
I love this show. Jokes both I and my wife get. Jokes about geeks and jokes by geeks for geeks.
Penny (Kaley Cuoco) is hot and smart, constantly outwitting Sheldon.
I have the season opener saved on my DVR.
BTW, the Indian character is Kuthrapali.
I think it’s watchable but not very good. It just seems good because there are so few sitcoms out there and by comparison looks good.
It’s worth watching if you happen to be in a chair and can’t find a remote and are too lazy to get up and change the channel, type thing
I love this show. I think it’s gotten better as it’s gone along. I agree Sheldon is the best character with the best lines. More importantly, I love that Penny is from Nebraska but is never played like she’s a hayseed hick.
And I’m not just saying that because I’m from Nebraska, I swear.
However, allow me to point out that there *are *hot smart chicks in Nebraska in case you’re wondering.
I also wonder if the geek jokes are really just first year physics the writers found on Wikipedia, and if people who know can’t stand it and find the jokes to be glaring in their elementary-ness.
The only distracting thing is that Penny is supposed to work at The Cheesecake Factory, but the set and the uniforms don’t look like The Cheesecake Factory? I don’t really know, I’ve never been in one.
I think that’s seems to be typical of Chuck Lorre. He’ll take what should be a formulaic sitcom and push it out of “trite” category that it wants to fall into and over to “clever and entertaining”.
That reminds me of a saying along the lines of “If you have to explain a joke, it’s failed.” And yet Sheldon explaining the joke to Penny was way funnier than if he had just presented the (quite witty) joke by itself.
Then again, pretty much any line delivered by Sheldon is pure comedy. If he were to read the phone book, I can just imagine him saying that John Smith’s phone number is 555-2137 in such a way that anyone who didn’t already know John’s phone number is a complete moron.
I like it more or less in spite of itself. Most of the geek characters are more or less extraneous, they could’ve just gone with Leonard and Sheldon and the show wouldn’t loose much, and the Penny character is kinda annoying.
That said, as a physics grad student living in an apartment with two other physics grad students (and one wall covered with a whiteboard), I watch anyways, because its like they made a sitcom out of my life (though no hot neighbor I’m afraid).
Last season they’d put the (entire) shows up as they aired, but the season opener doesn’t seem to be there. Not sure if that means they’re stopping the streaming of the show from abc.com or that there will just be a longer lag between them airing the show and putting it up on the website
You and me both. I love this show - the guy playing Sheldon is a brilliant comic actor, I think - everything he says makes me laugh. I like Leonard and the other guys, too - I think all the geek interactions are hilarious. One point of contention with the show - they need to make sure all their geekiness is accurate. They had a reference to Kirk’s birthplace on one episode last year that was incorrect - that’s not acceptable for the crowd they’re playing to.
Sheldon crosses the line into irritating just a little too often for me.
He doesn’t irritate me at all; now, if I lived with him, we wouldn’t both live to see the end of the first day, but as a character on a show, I just find him funny.
This show is all kinds awesome. It’s a tragedy that it didn’t get any emmy recognition. I find it amusing that one of the friends was Moist Boy in Dr Horrible (especially since Dr H himself stars in BBT’s companion show HIMYM). It’s really funny but also has characters you care about. All the nerdy references are fun, and the show isn’t afraid to go over your head occasionally. The chicken in space joke was classic!
