Any Neverwinter Nights players out there? HELP!!

So I’ve traded in my EQ hard drive space for NWN Platinum edition. And I’m seeing bugs all over the place (f’rinstance, I never did encounter two of the escaped criminals in Chapter 2, though I found both of their campfires), but the two that really irk me the most are the disappearing henchman and the ineffective potions.

The disappearing henchman I’ve found a fix for. I can’t USE that fix in Chapter 3 (where I’m currently stuck because of the bug) because of game limitations (you can’t hire a henchman in this chapter…the only one you have is the one you dragged along from Chapter 2, and the fix requires you to respawn the henchman toon in the DM’s toolkit and then rehire him, so I’m screwed on that).

The potion one I’m finding really, really annoying, though. I can drink potions. So can my henchmen. But they have no effect at all. It says “[Charactername] uses Potion of Cure X Wounds” in the chat box, but nothing happens. No pretty lights, no swooshy sound, no hit points being restored. None of the potions work. I got through two chapters of the original NWN campaign on healing kits and Linu as my henchperson. I started SoU when I realized that I was screwed in Luskan because of the henchman bug, and it’s happening there, too.

I can’t find anything about this anywhere online. Can anyone help?

It’s been a while since I played or kept up with developments, but did you go to the official forums and run a search for your problem? They’re usually fairly informative there. Here’s the link: http://nwn.bioware.com/forums/search.html

Hate to ask the obvious, but you’ve reinstalled and patched, right? I don’t know what you’re looking at in the Platinum edition, but I’m running HotU 1.59.

Yeah, right when you start up, click on the ‘Update’ button. If you’ve already done that, then yeah, check the forums and maybe email tech support.

NWN nights is a great game, and it’s unfortunate it’s getting ruined for you. (And you actually made it to chapter 3 without being able to use potions?!?! Hoyl crap you must be good! Of course, I always play with low HP classes (mage and Rogue) so I needed potions like water.)

I’ll check that…for some reason I never even saw the update button. :smack:

And I was playing a monk with about three initial rogue levels. It’s amazing how little that class actually gets hit after a while. I was basically just walking into traps by the time I was a rog3/mnk7 and dodging all the damage. Having Daelan as my hench for most of the first two chapters helped, too.

I didn’t even think of reinstalling. I didn’t patch because I wasn’t sure what version Platinum was out of the box, and I was going to check when I got home today.

Definitely patch - they keep releasing not only bug fixes but also game updates - new monsters, that kind of thing, which people who make downloadable modules for the game engine can use to add to their adventures.
