I would love to use a computer simulation of some kind that would illustrate how coastlines around the world would change due to rising sea levels.
Is there anything like this online where you have a map of the world or a continent and you enter, say, a 5 meter rise in sea level and the shorelines on the map change to reflect the rise?
You might also want to take a look at the opening titles of the Kevin Costner postapocalyptic flick Waterworld. There’s a nifty sequence of the water level rising across the world after the Universal Studios logo fades.
I looked at flood.firetree and my ten meter above sea level house is still fine with a fifteen meter see level rise! The bottom line is the digital elevation model used on those stimulations is not particularly accurate for most of the worlds coastline.
