Any Opinion of LeTip?

I was getting a quote for a service from someone and, at the end of their spiel, they gave me a pamphlet of “other professionals in other fields” that they’d recommend to me.

As I understand it, they’re all members of a group called “LeTip”, who pay to join and then get fined if they don’t push people to each other’s businesses. (And they do meet-and-greets with one another - but that’s not really relevant for my question.) In general, I can appreciate how it might be good, as a small business owner, to join up in order to get some extra salesmen for your business out there in the world.

I asked the guy if there were any admission criteria for quality that people need to go through to get in. He said that they run a check on qualifications, customer reviews, BBB check, etc.

Anyone ever heard of it? Any thoughts on whether the members are more or less likely to provide better service, on average, compared to a randomly selected business out of the yellow pages?

Sounds similar to BNI and other structured networking groups.

When I first started my firm I did a few years in a BNI chapter. Each chapter runs itself (within wider BNI policies) and does reference checks for incoming members etc.

Where possible, I would try and use members myself for services before referring them to my clients/family/friends.

I tended to find that most members who had been in the group for a while tended to provide a good level of service to people I referred, as they understood the benefit of repeat referral.
