Any other Dopers listen to Clutch?

I have always been suprised that these guys haven’t experienced more success than they have. I think Tim Fallon is one of the best lyricists I have ever heard. I have loved these guys since thier self-titled release, but every albumn they have put out has been quality stuff and each one has several songs that are instant classics, at least they would be if people listened to them that is.

On top of great record releases they consistently put on great live shows. I remember the first time I saw them back in 97. They played with Orange 9mm, another pretty good band. I saw them setting up on stage and getting ready to play and this little, short dude was messing with the mic. I had never seen pictures of them at that time and I was like “Get that stage hand off the fucking stage and lets get the show going”. Next thing I know this little guy starts belting out Shogun Named Marcus. I was floored that this little guy had that deep ass voice.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else on here likes these guys. My favorite release of thiers is Elephant Riders, least favorite is the new one Pure Rock Fury.

Anyone?

Nope don’t listen to them, but I did see them open for Iron Maiden in 99. They weren’t too bad. I also have a friend who tried out for guitar for them but didn’t make it.

I’ve yet to see them in concert, but I wanna. They’ve got a definite Zappa influence, as well as some roots style mountain music, like in Soapmakers. I also like the way they mix New Age mysticism and bitchin’ cars together in Spacegrass. They are music for the right side of the mind.

Yep, I definitely do. I only have Pure Rock Fury at this point, but I’m going to pick up a couple other albums for sure.

'Cause in the Great Shining Path of the Great Monster Trucks…

This band is big in English Canada but almost unknown in Québec. It was recommended to me by a guitarist from London (Ontario). I like the song quoted from, but not enough to buy any more of their CDs.
