I’m looking for a talk radio style podcast that is genuinely funny. I’ve only found 2 that I like so far and there are way too many to sort through so I come to you.
The two I like are “Uhh yeah dude” which is pretty funny and “Red Bar Radio” which is funny most of the time but the racist ramblings of the host are off putting sometimes. I think he thinks its funnier than it really is to come across as a racist or something. But when race is not in the picture it’s pretty funny.
I’m look for casts that are an 30 min long or more. None of these little short 5-10 minute blips.
Ones I’ve checked out that I haven’t liked so far: (I picked these off the descriptions so hey, give me a break…):
The Awful Show
Get Laid Show
Chud Show
I’m not really looking for video casts, though if there are good ones that are longer than a few minutes let me know.
As I said in the last podcast thread, talk radio host Paul Harris interviews likes to interview funny people. Along with his weekly talk with Jon Macks, Kip Adotta was also scheduled this past Friday.
I am subscribed to their show via iTunes, and each day the podcast is about two hours. Really good stuff; you can get a preview of them at their official site or at youtube, where there are multiple videos involving them.
Bill Simmon’s B.S. Report on ESPN.com is fantastic if you like sports/entertainment stuff. I’m a huge fan of his columns and the Podcast works really well and has some on-going gimmicks that keep me engrossed.
I’m also a huge fan of Adam Carolla’s morning show, which is available in Podcast form. It’s a 4 hour show and the segments are broken up into 15 minute blocks so there’s about 16-20 files each day. It’s way more than I have time to listen to.
My friend Kevin Cummings (who was for a short time a Doper) has had a podcast of his column Short Cummings going for quite a while now. Kinda DaveBarryesque:
The Onion Radio News – 45-second “newsbreaks” that are very good. I actually put them into my main play list and when I shuffle, they occasionally pop up between songs like goofy commercial breaks.
Film-maker Kevin Smith has one called SModcast. It’s about an hour a week of him shooting the shit with his producer and friend Scott Mosier. Sometimes he has other friends of his on instead, and he did a couple episodes of just him and his wife.
You already go through the trouble to add a link; is it really that much more difficult to say what the link contains so I can choose to click on it or not?
The Fred & Barney voicemail, I thought, was just for TAL. I know that one of them, Fred I think, was New York writer David Rakoff… I don’t remember who the other was.
Fred and Barney were done by Jonathan Goldstein who has a show called Wiretap on CBC Canada. I guess he goes on TAL sometimes and that’s why it aired on there.
So they don’t have the rights to it and can’t rebroadcast it and he has some kind of copyright issues with the music so it’s hard to find.
I have it on my computer so its around and worth finding. The link has some other good stuff by him.
