Any reason against a tattoo of Athena? Update 18-May-2022: see the tattoo in post 58

She looks like anime Athena

Very nice work.

That’s really nice. I feel like it’s evocative of the style that you see in ancient Greek pottery but with a modern aesthetic.

That looks really nice, and I’m a person who generally hates almost all tats.

I like it! Especially the subtlety of the owl peeking out from under her, um, himation?

That’s exactly what I was going for!

The artist was particularly pleased with that aspect, too. Many people miss it, which I don’t mind - I like how it’s not immediately obvious.

Not sure if your link was meant to be completely public, but for me no image shows up in the thread, and clicking on it asks me for a login and password.

Odd. I right-clicked on the link and opened a new tab, and it took me straight to the photograph.

That happened when I clicked on it on my phone. I’m on my laptop now and a click took me straight to the photo.
And I love the picture especially the owl!

Very apt description though maybe not quite anime, but definitely a distinctive style.
I like it

We had the same problem up thread - I think it works if you already have and are signed into Instagram on the device you are using. I am sorry, but I don’t have any other online pictures at the moment.

Not usually a tattoo person but that’s a really great looking tattoo. Love the style and colors.

I thought the cat licking its butthole picture was someone’s tattoo at first and was a little relieved to see it’s watercolors and colored pencils on paper.

I took the liberty of updating the thread title, so no one swings by and posts a reason you shouldn’t do it.

Ha! While it wouldn’t be my thing, I’ve seen much worse subject matters make an appearance as tattoos.

Thanks so much! Appreciate it. :grinning:

Way too late for a reply, but that looks great! I like how you went big and bold with it also, rather than something smaller. And good job on the colors also. So many tattoos would be improved by using color rather than just the blue ink. Congratulations!

Joining the chorus, it looks good and at least as far as tattoos I’ve seen it’s different, it’s got a catching style and uses the symbols language well.

As to eaier mentioned concerns about imagery being taken wrong, I’m one of those who refuse to surrender to the misappropriators that which is everyone’s heritage.

Go big or go home, right!

Actually, it’s the placement as much as the size that makes it more noticeable. There’s really no hiding it. I think a design like that would not have worked smaller, though. Small tattoos can be nice, but this needed to be bold and colourful.
