Any Sonicare electric toothbrush users?

I searched & could not find a thread on the Sonicare electric toothbrush in IMHO.

Anyone use this? Likes or dislikes? Thanks.

I think there may have been a thread on Sonicare that got lost. I love mine, it has really helped my overall oral hygiene. I have the one with the built in timer, it’s totally worth it, I always get 2min of brushing in, always the same amount of time on each surface. Some people found the 2min timer too short, I found it very long compared to my old, lousy, habits.

Before Sonicare, my mouth would often wind up a bloody mess at the dentist, even if I didn’t have cavities. My dentist suggested the Sonicare, and I bought it right away. After using it for 6mo, my gums were in much better shape, and the dentist visit was a breeze.

Two thumbs up.

The timer that mine has is called the Quadpacer and insures that you get 30sec of time on each of the 4 individual tooth surfaces, inside & outside, top & bottom. The cheaper model just has a total 2min timer, and doesn’t break up that time for you.

Mr. Winnie and I adore ours. We’ve both received stellar dentist checkups in the past two years since we bought it, which has been great because we had a few bad ones before that. I highly recommend it (as will your dentist). It takes some time to get used to the tickling/vibrating sensation if you have sensitive gums like mine.

Good golly, yes. It gets certain others in the house to brush more often. Sometimes I tire of it because it’s a bit boring-- the thing does everything for you so you don’t even have that sort of physical concentration and engagement for 2 minutes (so sometimes I brush with a, um, manual brush for the variety). Our charger thing has fallen to the floor and is totally cracked out on the bottom but it still works fine.

Add me to the list of raves! I even take mine with me when I travel; just doesn’t feel right when I use a manual brush any more!

Yes, there was a thread on this three or four months ago… I know because reading it prompted me to go get one. I researched it on the web, too, and found almost entirely positive reviews about it. Now that I have it, I can’t believe I didn’t get one sooner. I also recommend paying a little extra for the Quadpacer model.

My only complaint is that it seems to be developing a strange tendency to turn on and off at odd moments. I think there’s a short somewhere inside the thing, so I may wind up returning it for another one.

I started a thread here about the Sonicare a few months back because I was debating whether or not to buy one. Because of the feedback that was posted, I bought one, and I’m very happy with it. My hygienist noticed right away (I had been using it for about 6 weeks), and the cleaning wasn’t nearly as painful!

More love for Sonicare. Plus, as I said in the lost thread, I have high praise for their customer service.

Yep, we’ve got a Sonicare.

It’s at the back of the shelf over the toilet and has accumulated a thick layer of dust since its last usage two or three years ago.

Similarly, our workout ski machine is basically an expensive hatrack.

I love my Quadpacer Sonicare, and it has helped tremendously with my dental hygiene. The Sonicare was recommended to me after a hygienist visit in which they couldn’t get all the crud off my teeth in the allotted time and had to schedule a second appointment for me a few days later just to finish the job. :smack:

Now dental cleanings are really easy.

One suggestion for the boredom – hum! I started humming while using the Sonicare because it prevented the tickling sensation from bothering me. Now it’s a nightly ritual. I pick out a song that’s relevant to the day (or something that’s been running through my head), and I hum it for the two minutes it takes to brush. If the song is upbeat enough, I even dance around to it.

Cervaise - I’m curious why you stopped using the Sonicare? Did you find it too uncomfortable?

(Yay, my first use of :smack:!)

I have a quadpacer one (although I didn’t know that was the name - it just pauses every half-minute so I can change regions.)

I really like it, but it took me a while to get used to it. (Think:drooling all over myself for the first week or so)

I don’t use it every day anymore, though, but that’s because I keep it in the other bathroom from the one I normally use. Also - it’s just easier to use a regular toothbrush. I do make it a point to use the sonicare every few days. I do really like it.

love it - dentist and hygenist noticed a difference and told me that they noticed it before I told them I’m using it.

Yup, I use a Sonicare thingy. Called Quadpro or Quadpacer or some such, which was neat until it quit and I brushed the same tooth for two minutes. Boring. But I can make a grocery list in my head --even turn around and pee to pass the time. I suspect my dentist gets a cut of sales to his clientele. My dental hygienist is not gentler, my dentist still refers me to high priced specialists in cahoots with the dental economics cartel. Annnd, replacement brush tips are expensive…and the machine is the devil to take apart and clean properly.

I work for a dentist, and we HIGHLY recommend Sonicare. Just offhand, I can think of five patients [sub]who for years had to have their teeth cleaned every four months because of their rapid accumulation of calculus[/sub] who are now happily back to more reasonable recall periods since they started using Sonicare.

I use one myself, and I love it. Mine just died after three years and I ordered another one immediately.

Oh, and ** flyboy88**? Call the 800 number on the back of the box and tell them what is going on. You’ll need the number on the inside of the toothbrush base (take the brush head off) and they will most likely HAPPILY send you another one. As Pencepon said, their customer service department is first rate.

Sold! Buying one this week. Thanks for all the input/feedback.

One more thumbs up for the Sonicare.
I have been using mine for almost seven years now and it has made a huge difference in my checkups.
My dentist noticed right away on the first visit after I had bought it.
Now the hygenist teases me about “not leaving me any work”.
After years and years of bad check-ups and lots of ucomfortable dental work I will take that any day.
My only complaint with it was when the timer failed and the brush took off runing in the middle of the nght.
It woke me up and scared the bejabers out of me.
I guess that if that’s the worst that happens then it is worth every cent you pay for it.

I suppose I’ll have to put it in check-in luggage when I travel? Wouldn’t want it to turn on in the overhead bin or while I’m walking around a terminal.

Heh…one of our patients was just complaining because when she and her husband went to Hawaii recently the security people took her Sonicare toothbrush. Our patients got routed to the “your bags need to be hand searched” area, and later when they unpacked they discovered that the charger unit and one of the Sonicare handles was gone…they had ONE handle with brush left (there were two, but only one charger) but the charger and one handle unit was gone.

Guess the security person thought it would be great to have a Sonicare, too!

Hey Cervaise, I’ll give you ten bucks for yours since you don’t want it…I’m too poor to buy a new one…
