Any Spanish-Language Message Boards Similar to the Dope?

I’ve noticed that some people who are learning English as a second language have made use of the Dope to practice their English.

I would like to do a similar thing, only in Spanish. My Spanish is extremely rusty, and wasn’t much to begin with, but I feel that, with practice, I can get reasonably good at it. However, I’d rather avoid useless and/or ignorant message boards, like the Spanish-language equivalent of Yahoo! Answers.

Any suggestions?

Gracias

Heh. Good luck with that.

Good question! I’d be interested in that, myself. I know that we have to post in English here, but I wonder if we could make an exception for a single, ongoing thread (along the lines of the Online Dating Advice thread). Would it be acceptable to post in Spanish if we included a spoilered translation in English? Like this, but in reverse:

!Que bueno pregunta! A mi, eso me interesar, tambien. Yo se que tenemos que escribir en ingles aqui, pero quiero saber si sera possible hacer un excepcion para un “thread” solo continuando (similar al “Online Dating Advice Thread”). ?Sera acceptable escribir en espanol si incluimos un traduccion en ingles occulta? Asi, pero en inverso: (Please forgive my terrible Spanish.) And it strikes me that spoilered translations could help facilitate the flow of conversation, in cases where it’s really unclear what the poster wants to say.

Hmm. This should go in ATMB, shouldn’t it?

Dorkness, I am so on board with that idea.

I like wordreference.com. They have language forums for several languages and of varied topic types, like the SDMB. Their online dictionary is great, too, because it gives you real world examples of how to use the word you’re looking up plus links to threads on the language forums where that word appears.

Folks appear to be pretty smart and helpful there, plus they gots rules, baby. So limited BS posts.

You guys could call it La Mota Directa.

ETA: Good call on WordReference Forum. I use it often for help with Spanish legalese.

Bigboards lists a bunch [ Perhaps 60 or more.] of Spanish language forums. I know knowledge of the quality of any of them. Forums Rankings - all software forums, Spanish language, website ranking by posts

Heh. This one sounds awesome: “Putalocura - Forum focussed on men’s interests (in Spanish)” The title translates roughly to “Bitchcraziness”. I have a hunch that’s not the board I’m looking for, but some of the others might be interesting. Thanks for the tip.

An advantage of wordreference is that posts will usually be in “dictionary Spanish”: it can be dialectal, but posts in “semesero” (leetspeak) are rare. Most of the general-interest Spanish-language forums I’ve encountered make me want to throw hardcopy editions of the Diccionario Panhispánico de Dudas at half the posters, simply on account of their purposefully-atrocious spelling.
