Any Texans want to defend this? (foster care)

Don’t be. He’s kinda goofy and irritating.

Yes, it will, but it will give the court-haters another rock to throw at the impudently independant judges.

Oh, and Greathouse? I don’t think you’re going to find any woman, anywhere who thinks “Go take a Midol” is funny. I’m not female, and I think you’ve just shown yourself to be a pure-dee troglodyte.

Well, the person that it was directed at didn’t seem to get offended. But, whatever.

Now then, if someone still has a problem with this “joke” (quotes around it since obviously nobody liked the joke), then feel free to pit me for it, but lets stop hijacking this thread with the commentary on what was, it would seem, was a rather lame joke.

The only two people to take offense so far have been men. The female it was directed to didn’t seem to have a problem. Fascinating.

Let’s see, so I’m the one who hijacked this thread? Sure, pal, sure.

Sure. Fine. Whatever helps you get to sleep at night.

Now then, how do you feel about the law mentioned in the OP?

The law? Oh, that’s preposterous. How long will we persecute people for the sexuality God gave them? When the lawmakers of my state attempted the same thing, they, too, inhaled vigorously. Cooler heads prevailed here, though.

I was raised in Texas until I went off to university. I consider myself a Texas expat, but some things really make my blood boil, like this bill. Like the other poster said, I doubt you’ll find too many folks willing to defend that bill.

I’m no fan of bible-thumping hatemongering morons either, and yeah, the presence of those in this state is definitely Texas’ worst quality.

Once again, I am so glad I’ve moved out of Texas.

I’m convinced most of the politicos in that damn state are wearing ten-gallon asshats.

No, they ARE ten-gallon asshats.

No, you’re not. I’m a native, born and raised in Houston. I’ve lived in several foreign countries: Singapore, Indonesia, Austin  (to name a few), but I keep coming back here because it’s the best place in the world to be.

If you’re the right sort of person, that is.

I’m sorry for continuing this highjack, but I really thought this comment was meaning to infer that females weren’t annoyed by his ummm…’joke’. I’m female. I took offense to his comment. I didn’t say anything because, really, what’s the point?

People who make comments like his don’t care if it’s kind of demeaning and a bit insulting.

They usually reply to any and all critiques of their insult/generalization/ condescension with comments such as: ‘It’s only a joke! You people don’t have a sense of humor!’ This means that they can generalize and demean all they want because we are the problem.

Plus in this case, if I said anything about it, I’m a girl, he might then make a comment about ME also needing to take a midol. I would then get in a sputtering rage and have to go kill off an annoying Sim or maybe taunt my rabbit. My rabbit is known to bite, yeah, that’ll make for a good Friday.

I chose to frown at his post and move on, but I did appreciate that other people (braver people) commented on it, men and all.

Texas ain’t too bad place. I liked most of the places that I lived in there. Corupus Christi, a farm in Gaines county as a kid, and Lubbock. Plainview was a little to far from a beer store for me (Nazareth). Lots of nice folks still.
