Any truth to this Michael Moore rumor?

Not even remotely. No matter what his views and/or arguments, it’s still attacking him personally, not those views and/or arguments. His bias or impartiality have nothing whatsoever to do with it.

Before the mods strike and this veers any more off course, let’s keep to the facts, and the fact is that no one so far has been able to find any evidence that this rumor is true.

And now he appears to not only think white men are stupid, but virtually the whole country and it’s populace. I give you this by way of example: http://www.nytimes.com/2004/06/26/opinion/26BROO.html

It was this article that I must ashamedly admit inflamed me to the point that I did indeed make an ad hominem attack upon him and used words I shouldn’t have. But I mean, really…what a pompous fucking ass! And the point remains: he seems to have an awfully strong incentive somewhere to try to look down on virtually everyone else and present himself as being more cognitive of and intelligent about certain issues than most anyone else. Without using the same words I used before, it appears to me that he may feel he has finally found a way to fit in with and be accepted by the “beautiful people,” i.e. Hollywood, and that his motivations in coming on stronger and stronger all the time may be in order to continue to bathe in the admiration and approval of the types of people who snubbed him thoughout his pre-adulthood years. Or, on the other hand, this just may be a way he tries to justify himself to himself. But regardless of the reason, he seems to have an awfully strong motivation to present himself as far above virtually everyone else. If any one of us knew someone personally who thought and behaved the way Moore does, it’s most likely we would think him a crackpot not to be taken seriously…which is my view also.

My quote was in response to the statement, “it’s just another example of killing the messenger.” I’m saying an impartial messenger should not be attacked (I’m thinking of Roman runners being killed by displeased emperors here). A messenger putting his own spin on the message should be questioned as to his motivation.

It still doesn’t get you any closer to refuting (or affirming) the message he brought, though. In fact, all it does is distract from that pursuit.

It sounds like the factual answer to this question is that the story is bullshit, or at least no relevant cite can be provide to support it, it sounds like bullshit and it comes from an extremely unreliable source (right-wing radio), so unless someboy can come up with a real cite, then the answer is no, the incident didn’t occur.

[mod hat on]

Pretty hard to believe that anyone’s gonna come up with an actual cite to this one. So I shut it down for now. The extraneous political posts on both sides could only get worse.

If anyone does find a cite that is credible, email me with the link, and if I agree, I’ll be glad to reopen this.
