Any update on the overcoat-wearing Jersey Swamp Troll?

So, a few years ago, Hal Briston posted this thread wherein he links to a picture of a New Jersey swamp that includes what is almost certainly a tree stump or something, but which looks vaguely like an overcoat-wearing troll about to charge the photographer.

Was there ever any followup on that, Hal? Did the guy ever go back and find out what Stumpy the Troll really was? Was there an update that I missed? Or did he set out to take the picture and ne’er return, thus accounting for the lack of further information?

No, sorry, no update. Maybe two years later I mentioned it to the coworker and asked if he ever went back. He told me he forgot all about it, but that he would “have to go back and take another look now”. That was about two years ago, and I don’t even think I’ve seen this guy since (not that he was abducted by a swamp troll…we just all telecommute now).

While were on the topic though, I was quite surprised when I first discovered StumbleUpon and came across this page.

Drat! Well, thanks for the update about the lack of updated information, anyway. Clearly what we need is the GPS coordinates of the location so we can zoom in on the spot in Google Earth and see if we can detect a network of subterranean troll caverns.

The original thread must pre-date my Doperhood, but I must say “Overcoat-wearing Jersey Swamp Troll” makes a great insult and I plan to use it as frequently as possible from now on  .
