Meh on the Divas match. Charlotte, Becky, Sasha and Paige should go back to NXT, which knows how to book them better.

Can someone here explain why the smarks just cream themselves over Kevin Owens? Is it because he’s fat like them? He literally does the exact same moves as a million other wrestlers, yet people think he is the greatest goddamn wrestler in the world.

Cheese, KO took some hard licks that match. Guess it helps that he’s built like a bowling pin. Good match. Hate to see Cesaro kept down, but it’s good to have KO back on the winning track, for however long that lasts.
Fuck Reigns.
I have to say no matter how the Brock/UT match plays out, NXT Takeover was the better show.
I suppose they could end the show with John Oliver giving a 20-minute monologue about how WWE’s business practices are abhorrent.
The Battle of Rest Holds ends in a yawn.

Altogether lame. I hope that’s what Taker wants to be remembered for.
T-Cups, KO is different, he’s not an over-worked character. But yeah, he’s also fat.
So let’s recap that finish.
Brock has ‘Taker in a Kimura lock. Brock’s shoulders hit the mat. Lil’ Naitch counts one, and while he’s doing so, 'Taker taps out using the hand that Naitch can’t see. The timekeeper sees the tapout and rings the bell on his own initiative. Naitch starts arguing with the timekeeper, and while he’s doing so, 'Taker punches Brock in the balls and locks in Hell’s Gate. Brock flips 'Taker off, then slowly retracts his finger, and Naitch takes that as a submission, calls for the bell, and declares Brock the winner. 'Taker fucks off to the back, Paul rings the bell again, and declares Brock the winner on his own.
They had to put an awful lot of planning into that, and yet, it still comes off looking like a botched clusterfuck. The end result? Nobody gets over, nobody looks good, nothing is established or resolved, and both wrestlers look like losers. Vince Russo couldn’t have booked a finish like that at his best.
If Takeover was a demonstration that Hunter is ready to take over the company when Vince retires, then Summerslam was a demonstration that Vince is ready to retire.
I like KO’s ring work, but not his mic work. I like Cesaro better, but KO needed the win more than Cesaro. As for Reigns, wild guess is that he’s nursing some nagging minor injury and working while recovering, hence the long sit-down. Otherwise the booking (which, we should all know, RR is not responsible for) makes no sense.
The finishes sucked in the two main matches, Cena/Rollins and UT/BL. I would think that UT would have more pull and know that the finish would suck, or maybe he wants to finish a heel. Or maybe they are setting up a rubber match.
For a TV super(?)-hero, Amell had the least super physique of the 4. Meanwhile, King Barrett is now Chairman of the J.O.B. Squad. Only thing worse is not even getting on the show.
The thing about Roman Reigns is that he’s best in small doses. He’s fairly limited as a worker - he has a few power moves which are really impressive, but he doesn’t sell very well and he has trouble working long matches on his own. When he was in the Shield, that worked fine because he could spend most of the match on the apron and hit the spear for the win, but it’s problematic when they’re trying to build him as a top contender. He spent about half an hour of the Royal Rumble rolling around on the floor until nearly the end to try and cover the fact that he lacks the stamina to keep going for that long, and they did pretty much the same thing here.
Unfortunately, his match on the RAW here in Minneapolis was more of the same. Lengthy rest holds and rolling around on the floor.
After digesting the last couple matches a little more…they still sucked.
I really do wonder what they’re doing with Taker. He’s not even “finishing his career as a heel” as was mentioned above, at this point he’s just being weak and he looks terrible.
I actually thought the ending to Cena/Rollins was OK, except Jon Stewart played his hand too early. He was teasing hitting Cena almost right away and never should have done that. He should have done a Rollins and acted face until the berry last second
Was thinking that, other than ‘boys club’, there wasn’t really a compelling reason to have Finn Balor/Kevin Owens as the main event on Takeover. Bayley winning her first championship was so much more emotional and feel good that it SHOULD have been the main event and final match to send people home happy.
What’s more, Bayley vs Sasha made the entire SS Diva output look like crap. Well actually, the SS match already looked like crap. The Bellas just don’t have the work ethic of the NXT girls. Bailey & Sasha went back and forth, and it wasn’t this “heel beats up on face until face wins in the last 15 seconds” drek. Bailey & Sasha worked together and worked their tight little buns off. The Bellas just expected the “new girls” to lie there and make them look good.
Normally I would agree with you here, but technically we aren’t supposed to know Bayley is going to win (and aren’t technically supposed to know Finn will retain), so on that grounds the World Title > Women’t Title, and thus should be the Main Event.
Although given how un-kayfabe wrestling has gotten in the recent months it wouldn’t have surprised me if they did let the women go last as a wink-wink-nod-nod kind of thing
I guess the question is whether or not the Bellas really are leaving (or if this isn’t some stupid assed Total Divas swerve) and when their contracts end.
That and I’m still waiting for the annual list of releases. Won’t be surprised to see a handful of phony divas on it.
