Any WWE fans in the audience? (Part 1)

Have you SEEN Billy Gunn?!?

This was coming a mile away

Billy Gunn was still with WWE?

As of late he was a coach in NXT and was occasionally refereeing and working tag matches there. Last time he appeared on TV, IIRC, was when he and Road Dogg ran out during the DX vs. nWo brawl during the Sting/Trips match at WrestleMania.

You may also recall their brief run as tag champions last year, though I’ll forgive you if you’ve chosen to forget it - it started with them turning heel on CM Punk for no explicable reason and ended with them jobbing to the Usos in a throwaway match on Raw.

What a meat head. He already had a career that didn’t require juicing up, and he blows it all to show he can lift heavy things in his fifties.

Didn’t it start with them coming back for a Rumble, then beating Cody/Goldy for the titles?

Either way, I remember seeing him from time-to-time at the NXT house shows and was amazed at how huge he still was. Steroids were definitely still in play

Why do I have a feeling that the truth is:

Billy Gunn has been fired for…a powerlifting competition he didn’t tell WWE he was competing in. (Oh, and he happened to test positive for PEDs as well.)

Only names Vince thinks will remain “big” can get away with things like that, and even then, they get Severe Talkings To (case in point: Chris Jericho got one for hosting a game show on ABC, while WWE still had some sort of deal with NBC at the time.)

It was the turning heel on CM Punk that lead to them getting a title shot at TLC.

So then…no Rousey at 'Mania?

Rousey still has some value to WWE. They need someone to take the jobbing duties off Becky Lynch.

Why have Rousey, an established MMA fighter, take on a figurehead? They’d have to book Stephanie as dominant for most of the match, which nobody would buy.

Rousey is a bigger draw for WWE now. I can’t recall his name right off hand, former MMA champion now big star in WWE… it’s on the tip of my tongue… something some-thing…

Ken Shamrock? Did he re-sign with WWE?

Hall of Famer, world champion, and NWA/AWA legend Nick Bockwinkel has passed away at age 80.

He was before my time, but I know enough about wrestling history to know he was one of the greats - one of the biggest heels of his era, a pioneer in the art of cutting promos, and he went from working with Lou Thesz at the beginning of his career to Hulk Hogan at its end. He left a lasting mark on the business and he will surely be missed.

Bockwinkel was an incredible athlete as well as a great performer. I caught a couple of AWA shows in the 70s when he was still a credible wrestler. He and Verne Gagne were the mainstays of the AWA (Gagne’s promotion). A lot of entertaining wrestlers passed through the AWA, even though Gagne was a successful promoter I think it was Bockwinkel’s influence that developed some of the greats that passed through, Curt Hennig (Mr. Perfect), Sean Michaels, Iron Sheik, to name a few, and some famous but less great in my book guys like Hogan and Scott Hall.

There’s gonna be a great match in wrestling heaven tonight, Bockwinkle and Gagne will go at it once more. Odds are Bockwinkel cheats to win.

Odds are that there’ll be a Dusty finish where Verne Gagne and Vince McMahon Sr. disagree on who should have won.

Yeah right, like Vince Sr. is up there.

Well, I guess there couldn’t be a Wrestling Heaven without a Wrestling Hell. I guess that’s where they sent Baron von Raschke, and Chris Benoit, and one of the Sin Caras. You know, the evil one. The one that bladed Alberto.

Memo to Sir T-Cups; NXT will be holding a special TV taping in Orlando, at the University of Central Florida, on January 22nd, two days before the Royal Rumble. Tickets go on sale Saturday. It’s an arena-sized venue that’s expected to seat 8,000 or so, so it shouldn’t be too difficult for you to get in if you’re so inclined.

Actually, the last time something like this happened - when Buster Douglas beat Mike Tyson just before Tyson was supposed to show on a WWE show - Vince dropped Tyson like a hot potato and put Douglas in Tyson’s place.

Don’t know how you found this out, but Ms. Cups just got very excited.

Are they selling the tickets through .com? Or will we have to go through UCF?
