Any WWE fans in the audience? (Part 1)

Word is that prior to Wrestlemania Brock redid his WWE contract to allow one more UFC fight. He will be back in WWE for Summer Slam.

And CM Punk thought the days of part timers taking his spot were over. But seriously, how bad does this make Punk look? He should swallow his pride and wait for McMahon to back that dump truck full of money into his driveway.

CM Punk

Unless they put him in with a tomato can he’ll lose, he’s clearly over the hill, and wasn’t that good at MMA to start with. I’ll bet it is a set up to let him go out with an MMA win.

Man, the longer Punk goes without fighting, the worse it looks for him. Nevermind any actual physical issues, it just looks him look like a massive pussy with a big mouth and nothing to back it up. Especially if Brock walks back in and fights at 200, where Punk was supposed to fight and bowed out.

I can’t imagine WWE would even look in his direction if he failed to do a single MMA fight and then put out feelers for a WWE return. Either that or they’d take him back on a 1-year contract and then deliberately humiliate him over and over again.

“Social Outcasts, I think we have a new 4th member for you…”

Who knows? WWE’s bridges don’t stay burnt for long. ADR came back, and they’ve welcomed the big name Indies. Punk’s a heat machine, and he can always claim he took time off to study UFC fighting so he could become a better superstar. Then he can draw tears for his near-death back surgery, complete with pictures. Besides, if WWE does truly commit to splitting the roster, they’re going to want as many big names as possible. Nobody’s going to want to watch SD for Golddust and Jack Swagger.

Was Lesnar’s permission really given? Or did Brock basically say “I’m doing this and you can fire me if you don’t like it”

He’s facing Mark Hunt, a 42 year old 5’10" kickboxer. Not much of a challenge for Lesnar, yet I still don’t think it’s a sure thing for him.

Hey Smapti.

These shirtsfor Sami Zayn and the Vadevillains actually look pretty cool. They don’t make you look like a wrestling nerd.

I already have the NXT version of that Sami shirt, which is cooler anyway because it looks like an actual ska band shirt. The Vaudevillians shirt is tempting, though.

What I really want is a Pentagon Jr. shirt, but apparently it’s nearly impossible to get one without going to a show he’s at and buying it directly from him.

I could make a knockoff through a custom T-shirt maker like Blue Cotton.

You want the version with his face on it or Cero Miedo?

The face, in 2XL. In a perfect world I’d want the face on the front and Cero Miedo on the back.

Anyway, tomorrow night is Takeover: I’ve Lost Count Of Which Number This Is Supposed To Be, officially titled “The End” since they’re blowing off a lot of feuds and a lot of these guys are probably getting called up when the brand split happens. Here’s my predictions;

  • Samoa Joe vs. Finn Balor, steel cage match for the world championship. Joe retains and Finn gets called up, probably to get involved with Bullet Club in some way, shape, or form.

  • American Alpha vs. the Revival for the tag titles. AA retains.

  • Asuka vs. Nia Jax for the women’s title. If this is anywhere near as good as when I saw them do this match at the house show last month, it could potentially steal the show. That match ended in a non-finish with Alexa Bliss running in, but I figure we get a conclusive finish here. Could go either way, but since I’m predicting the other two champs to retain, I’ll go out on a limb and say Nia wins here and Carmella challenges her for the title at Takeover Brooklyn (which I won’t get to watch live, since it’s happening the same night as one of the ROH tapings I’m going to in Vegas (and also the same night CM Punk makes his UFC debut, but I digress)).

  • Austin Aries vs. Shinsuke Nakamura. This is another one that ought to be a great show - both these guys are red hot, and they’re both undefeated since they arrived in NXT. Whichever one wins will probably end up facing Joe for the title in Brooklyn. Either match would be good, but I can’t see WWE doing Aries vs. Joe and risking the fans comparing it negatively to their match for the ROH title, so I’m gonna go with Nakamura to win.

  • Andrade “Cien” Almas (formerly Manny Andrade, even more formerly La Sombra) vs. Tye Dillinger. It seems like ever since NXT made it onto the Network, they’ve had a Designated Jobber who’s given just enough screen time on the weekly show such that, when they’re debuting a new indy heartthrob, they can get squashed by the newcomer in the curtain-jerker at Takeover. First it was CJ Parker, then it was Tyler Breeze, then it was Bull Dempsey (whose singlet still hangs in my closet as a reminder of the stupid decisions I made when I was drinking), and now it seems it’s the perfect 10’s turn. Cien goes over here.

I agree with every one of your predictions Smapti except the women’s, I think Asuka retains.

It’s been a couple months since we’ve seen NXT in person, but Cien has been on the house show circuit for a good 6 months or so down here and I was NOT impressed with him either time I’ve seen him.

I’m hoping he got some good experience in the meantime and looks better.

I seem to remember you saying I REGRET NOTHING, but maybe that was the liquor talking…

Sometime when I’ve got too much time on my hands, I could make the Pentagon Jr. designs and send them to you in PM. Then you could go to bluecotton.com and fit the designs on the type of shirt you want. They’re who I went through when I made my Wyatt family shirt, and the process was easy.

Well, I probably wouldn’t have bid on it if I were sober (and I didn’t seriously think I’d win anyway), but it makes for a lovely conversation piece nonetheless.

Schwifty.

Consensus of opinion among fans, oddsmakers and the media is that Lesnar will lose.

He’s been 4 years out of real competition, was never good enough to hang with the best of the best and was looking somewhat chinny in his last fights.

Add to that the fact that Lesnar very clearly doesn’t like getting hit and he’s been put in against a world-class kickboxer (Hunt is a former K1 champ) and it all adds up to a rough night for Brock.

Granted Lesnar’s grappling can’t be completely discounted but Hunt is experienced on the ground and you have to believe that his camp will focus on removing the one area in which Lesnar might be a threat.

I liked the storytelling in last night’s Enzo & Cass v. Vaudvillains match.

One of the Vaudvillains tried to kayfabe injure Enzo the same way that Enzo was legit injured in their last contest. Big Cass saw that and just LOST IT.

Did they announce a Club v New Day match for MiTB? They’re teasing it a lot, but I haven’t heard anything yet

I was kind of conflicted about that angle. It makes Enzo look SAWFT whenever Cass has to come to his rescue. They firmly believe in the Rock’n’Roll Express formula, but Enzo needs to at least back up all his pre-match braggadocio.

It will be a fatal fourway involving those teams and Enzo & Cass and The Vaudevillains. Interesting how three of the newest teams on the roster are already championship contenders.

For those that remember him Zach Gowen will be competing on tonight’s episode of American Ninja Warrior.

He is playing Ricky Morton. But Cass is much more than Robert Gibson. I like the angle but it was clumsily worked.
