Would it have killed Vince McMahon to purchase the rights to use that song on the WCW repeats, instead of switching to that generic honky tonk piano music? Then again, at what point did TBS switch from The Boy from New York City to an original song of some sort?
I had a good chuckle when reading the comments section for this article on how Billie Kay and Peyton Royce didn’t like each other in high school. Kay said they were rivals over who was the bigger wrestling fan. One or two commenters expressed skepticism, and were met with “What do you think wrestling forums are?”
I’m a lifelong mark, but I don’t buy much in the way of wrestling merchandise. I did get an Ox Baker shirt from an online friend, and I otherwise make my own shirts. Smapti seems to buy a lot of photo sessions and merchandise, and travels to wrestling events frequently. STC has only been a fan for a few years, but he’s gotten as much mileage as possible, living in Orlando and attending NXT and Impact tapings. Hard to say who’s the bigger fan, but they don’t seem to compete over it.
Seriously, though, you make me sound like some kind of world traveler. Almost all of my memorabilia is from going to indy shows in Seattle/Tacoma every month or two, and most of the wrestlers there just charge $10-20 apiece for an autographed 8x10 and a photo.
I haven’t even gotten a chance to go to a WWE PPV yet, since they haven’t done one up here since I started watching wrestling again in 2013. Just Raw and Smackdown and the occasional house show. I went to an ROH PPV in Vegas a few years ago, but I was planning to go to Vegas anyway. I was considering flying to Chicago for All In, but now that my car’s died on me and I need to save up for a down payment (and I guess that means I’m renting a car if I’m going to any shows in the near future) that’s out the window.
I had great plans to go to the Impact PPV tonight because seeing Penta and Fenix seemed compelling enough, but Mrs. Cups and I ran 19 miles this weekend and we’re tired.
So who’s going to win the Greatest Ever Royal Rumble? Probably Braun, but maybe they’ll throw a curve, like have Sami Zayn win, who is the closest they have to a local.
Raw 40 + CW 16 + SD 33 - 24 other matches -6 injuries = 59, 9 to spare. Best of luck to those 9 in their future endeavors.
Maybe Noam Dar participates and comes out with the Israeli flag.
Cool shirt. Ever listen to Bruce Prichard’s podcast? He does a hilarious Jim Cornette impression. He’s got a whole episode about Corny that I highly recommend.
Looking at the participants for the Oil Rumble (and the promotional poster posted at wwe.com) I noticed Sami Zayn is missing. Is this because he’s Syrian?
Last time WWE did a house show in SA, Sami got a huge pop from the crowd and cut a post-match promo in Arabic, so I’d be surprised if he isn’t one of the 22 unannounced competitors.
Shawn Daivari and Hornswoggle, of all people, have reportedly been spotted in Jeddah, so expect them to show up too.
Had a bomb-ass NXT Live event tonight. Probably the best lineup we’ve had since the original NXT hay day of Finn, Becky, Bayley etc. etc. Had appearances from Aliester Black, Ricochet, Kassius Ohno, Adam Cole and more. We even had a good and funny promo from Dream. The next show is literally a month from today and I sprung for ringside because it’s a new era and I want some high-fives! They also had a new thing a this show, they did a presale for the next next round of tapings. So we were able to nab tickets for the June tapings. Neat!
Are we complaining that “Cena wins lol” against Triple H? Or complaining that Cena/HHH jerked the curtain open? Just wondering how to direct the current Cena hate.
Never been a fan of Cena, but I think their hotshotting of titles hurt him just as much as Orton. Cena is going to get that win to beat Flair, but he isn’t going to get more than that one more run. And he isn’t going away. He’s had every opportunity to get married, do other things and he’s one of those guys who is going to be deeply depressed and frustrated when WWE finally sends him home.
So in the mean time, since he can’t be champion, what do you do with him? I don’t have any issues with him beating Trips. Trips doesn’t need to go over anyone.
Cole: I don’t think this audience quite understands the Deleter of Worlds thing.
Byron: You can count me among them.
Graves: It’s a process! (pause) One day (gets cut off by Cole).
Me: “you’ll wake up and the world will just be deleted.”
Well, the tryout video package followed by introducing them followed by them beating up the evil Iranian Diavari’s was cheesy good patriotic fun for the Saudi audience.
No, we got ringside for the house show, just GA for the taping because it’s a mad house and suuuuuuper annoying to try otherwise. And we don’t need that for the taping, I’m find in the cheap seats (they’re just as close).
That’s all this ever was. For whatever reason the network or the fans or whoever blew this thing way out of proportion and it just kept getting weirdly bigger and bigger.
