Smapti, are NEVER and CHAOS considered separate feds from NJPW?
NXT tapings spoiled all of us on what happened over in the UK. Confused the hell out of my section when they mentioned it.
Also saw a title change at the tapings. I believe this is the first title change we’ve ever seen in NXT.
Other than that, the tapings were really just so-so. The funniest part was hearing Mauro Renallo scream his head off during the quieter matches.
Any up-and-comers that haven’t been on the air yet stand out?
Be the “I saw him first” guy.
CHAOS is a babyface stable that mainly feuds with Bullet Club. Shinsuke Nakamura was its founder, and Okada’s heen the leader since Nakamura went to WWE.
NEVER was originally New Japan’s developmental league, but it got folded into the main roster a few years ago. The NEVER titles are all openweight, whereas the other titles are specifically for heavyweights or junior heavyweights.
Honestly no. We got a match out of Max Humberto, whoever the hell that guy is. Kona Reeves’ new look continues to be godawful and they teased a pretty good looking tag team, but they got beat up by Undesputed Era before they could wrestle. We also saw Dijak wrestle and, surprise surprise, he lost. Didn’t he have a bunch of indy cred? Dude does nothing but lose.
Talk to me next week, we’re going to a house show and that’s where we’ll see Mars and Rocky and people like that.
Also also, they changed TM61 to “The Mighty” and it’s to stupid.
Also also also, they opened up tix for Mae Young 2, so Mrs. Cups and I got tix for the Wednesday show. Going to 2 shows in 2 days in the middle of the week would be exhausting…so we ain’t doing that. We picked Wednesday because we’re guaranteed to see every girl. It tapes in early August
Yeah, Kona Reeves just sucks the life out of the room/arena. He looks too much like a pot-smoking surfer dude to pull off the narcissist angle.
Wonder what happened to Dijak to make him such a jobber? He was Rising Star of the Year in ROH. He’s a tad slow, but he’s an agile big man. Maybe he doesn’t have the proper intimidating look, like the 1000 Yard Stare of Drew McEnGalloway.
TM 61 used to be “The Mighty Don’t Kneel” in Oz. Don’t know what the 61 stands for aside from my birth year.
Raleigh has Supercon next month, and it has a few wrestling personalities. If I were to go, I’d get their autographs in the following manners…
Leva Bates, AKA Blue Pants! - have her sign a picture of Enzo & Cass with a dashed outline of a generic female and have her sign inside the outline
Christian - I’d have him sign a bible
Mick Foley - he signed my book before, so I’d have him sign it again
Gangrel - I’d have him bite a blood bag with my name printed on it
Hillbilly Jim - Maybe have him sign a Kentucky road map and see if he actually signs by the town he’s from
Kane - have him sign the same bible Christian signed, then later scorch where his hand rested
Jerry “The King” Lawler - Have him sign a Burger King wrapper
Teddy Long - Have him sign a Planter’s Peanuts package
Rey Mysterio Jr. - ask him when he’s going do any moves for the rest of his phone number
Diamond Dallas Page - have him sign the DVD of that movie that cut out his scenes
Sgt. Slaughter - ask if he’d rather sign a picture of Obama or Trump
Trish Stratus - Tell her she’s a five, as in five mules to pull her off my face
The 61 is because it’s the country code for Australia if you were calling on the phone
Nakamura didn’t make SD last night because he got bit by a police dog.
He tried to get it to stop, but it didn’t speak Japanese.
Yeah, but it ended up with us getting TNA 2.0 with Eric Young.
Really good main event on RAW this week, even with the Roman interference. Not as good a main event on Smackdown, but just as weird an ending. Kane to the rescue. That’s Kane. In 2018.
Noticed last night just how much actual wrestling there was on Smackdown as opposed to a billion promos with a match here and there.
Confirmed: Smackdown moving to Fox network on Friday nights starting in October, 2019
“Why Friday nights?”
Well, when else could Fox air it?
Saturday? Not with College Football and MLB already there
Thursday? Fox has the NFL on Thursdays now, remember?
Monday? Er, I don’t think Vince would be happy with Smackdown airing against Raw
Sunday? I can see three problems with that:
(a) What do they do on “PPV” nights?
(b) What happens if a national NFL game runs long? Some Fox stations are notoriously protective of their 10 PM (Eastern/Pacific) local news shows
(c) What do you do with The Simpsons / Bob’s Burgers / Family Guy? (Wait, don’t tell me, let me guess: cancel / FX / Turner)
Can’t wait for Joe Buck to say, “Tune in tomorrow to Smackdown Live as Shinsuke Nakamura finally confronts The Velveteen Dream about what happened during their tag-team match last week against the Bludgeon Brothers…that’s Smackdown Live tomorrow only on Fox”
I’m fine with Team Hell No being reunited, but it worked best when they were both heels. DB would get all whiny about something mean Kane said or did, and Kane would respond with something cold-blooded and sinister, making DB whine even more.
I’m sure they’ll work some great matches with the BBros, but I was hoping DB would resume the Talking Smack angle he had with the Miz now that he’s healthy. Maybe they don’t want Miz to be in heel mode while Mrs. and Miz is airing.
I figure the Team Hell No reunion is going to lead to a title run through the rest of the summer, so that Bryan has something to do without being in the main event scene and Kane can have one last hurrah before he wins the mayoral election in Knoxville and retires from wrestling.
Is he going to win though? I know it’s probably an entirely different situation, but Rhyno got his ass handed to him. Have you read/heard anything about Kane’s chances?
He won the Republican primary in a red area. Not a guarantee, but I’m pretty sure he’s considered the favorite.
Rhyno was a Republican running in a deep-blue district in Michigan with a large Arab population. Kane is a Republican (Libertarian actually, but he’s running as a Republican) running in a deep-red southern county that Trump won by 24 points. He’s pretty much a shoo-in.
UK fans are so classy. Where else does the audience sing La Donna E’mobile during a wrestling match?
Isla Dawn is now my future ex-wife.
So, WWE UK doesn’t have a show, unless you count them as part of NXT, especially with Mustache Mountain winning the NXT tag belts.
Now there’s NXT UK. Will it have a show? Will their talent get called up to NXT, since it envelopes WWE UK?
