Any WWE fans in the audience? (Part 1)

Worst storyline in wrestling history replaced by star of second worst storyline in wrestling history? Or was it just a tie for first place?

Wellp looks like we’re going spolers-be-damned…

Fandango/Justin Gabriel: Biggest takeaway on this for me was that while I always thought Fandango looked big, in that tight-ass shirt he looked HUGE. Either he’s starting his HGH regime, or he took his months off and never left the weight room. He won on a leg drop from the top ropes, which is a pretty cool move I’ll give him credit for

Cesaro/Swagger Remember when these guys were the up-and-coming best tag team? Seems like so long ago. Interesting that Swagger gets the win only because I don’t see much of a point in it. He’s being pushed for what? Another loss to Rusev? Plus Cesaro needs more of a push so he can do crazy shit with his strength

Uso/Dusts’/Torito/Mizzuz: A pretty neat match all things considered. GREAT troll jobs by all faking tagging in Mizdow, only to have him not be tagged or get out right away. That was perfect. I also enjoyed the back-and-forth they had with the crowd “yaaaay” “booooo” “yaaaay” “booooo”. Good for them winning too, this will last all of 3 weeks til they feud themselves

Ambrose/Wyatt A good match until the end. I’m impressed that Bray learned to wrestle, since he never does. I don’t care what the bell says, that was a win for Dean-o. IMO it was a stupid ending that was kind of out of character for Dean. He’s crazy in that he’ll do anything to himself to get the job done, but once the job is done he was always done. He never just went off like that, can’t say I’m a fan. Obvious TLC plug was obvious.

Divas SS match Omg did you guys see that Odell Beckham Jr catch??! Plus Tyson Kidd tweeted a selfie in the middle of the match. lol domestic abuse lol!

Nikki/AJ: From what I can gather this isn’t just material for the fanboys’ bunk, this was a callback to something that happened earlier. Also as a tweet said: Just so everyone knows: Daniel Bryans wife kissed CM Punks wife so that John Cena’s girlfriend could get the belt

Adam Rose/Bunny vs Slator Gator: Seriously he caught the football with THREE FINGERS, it’s up there with David Tyree’s Super Bowl catch…

Survivor Series: I was on the edge of my seat literally the entire time. I KNEW something was going to happen, but I didn’t know who or when. The wrestling was fantastic. It told a great story all around, had a heel turn that was actually relatively unexpected, they pushed the HELL out of Ziggler, Sting’s appearance was so great. I saw him and the first thing I said was “He’s in wrestling gear!!!” I’m sooooo happy he didn’t just start stomping on Ziggler, I thought it was gonna happen…ahh such a great ending!!

I’m gonna miss the Authority. HHH and Steph are PERFECT at what they do and I loved their angle. I’m gonna miss Trips especially. Week after Week he shows how good of an actor he really is, him just sitting there looking lost was perfect, consoling a freaking out steph, it was just great. He’s really really good. Also…can’t you see him as being the stupid goofy dad? I bet he embarasses the hell out of his daughters when they’re with friends. Cracking stupid jokes, doing his little dances…he’s got to be a riot

Some people are under the impression that the “Trips & Steph can’t get their power back unless Cena says so” stipulation is pointing towards a Cena heel turn. I don’t see this happening, especially as he’s the guy whose face pops up whenever you turn on WWE Network on Roku. Maybe once he passes Flair’s world title record, but that won’t be any time soon.

However, I will say this; the fraction of a second they have Steph switch to “whiny Stephanie mode” in front of Cena, I change the channel.

And why did it not occur to anybody besides myself that all the three remaining members of Team Authority had to do was to have one of them drag Dolph outside the ring for a double countout (speaking of which, I’ll ask: why did the referee wait so long before starting the countout that eventually eliminated Rusev?), which would end the match with Authority winning?
(Okay, technically that’s not true - Big Show was never counted out, and he could have run back into the ring and eliminated the other two somehow, as a total swerve on everybody.)

Yeah, there was a big window there for shenanigans.

No, not Shaemus

Hell, for a second or ten it looked like Sting might come in heel. That intro was drawn out for the moment it was, but the entire time I kept thinking “So why don’t they quickly count/pin Ziggler before Sting can even hit the ring?”

And just how many curb stomps has Ziggler survived so far? Since his last title reign was cut short due to a concussion, it smacked of stress testing the guy’s head to see if he could hold up.

I was simul-watching with my girlfriend, and we were gchatting it together, and I said “how is Zigs not counted out yet?” So that didn’t go UN-noticed.

I notice this cuz I used to live there, but the RAW tonight is in Indianapolis, which might have Sting’s RAW debut. The last time RAW was in Indy, Rollins turned on the shield
Indy getting all the good moments

Reports are that Sting isn’t meant to be on either Raw or Smackdown this week, although he might appear on Raw in a taped segment.

Re: Count outs

In general when both wrestlers are outside the the ring the ref doesn’t start to count them both out while one of them is on his feet. That allows for action outside the ring without a countout unless it’s part of the script. So with Rousev the count didn’t start until he knocked himself out. If the ref catches others dragging a wrestler out of the ring he’d can’t count the wrestler out since he didn’t leave on his own and didn’t get thrown out by a legal opponent.

So the game of maintaining the rules with myopic ADD-suffering referees continues.

Good.

Feel less bad for missing it. (smackdown is being taped in my hometown!)

So now that he’s made an actual appearance (or even if not)

Should Sting be inducted into the Hall of Fame?

I mean he’s the icon, and is an icon in the sport…but he never appeared in the wwe, and even now he’s only gonna do…one match? So it can be said that he shouldn’t be in the wwe hall of fame

My vote is absolutely yes. Because by inducting him, you are inducting the WCW into the hall of fame, where it as a wrestling promotion belongs.

Yes he should, he is an icon, and WCW is the property of WWE now. The standards aren’t that high for the HOF, it’s there for any long term or spectacular superstar, and he qualifies at least for the long term.

I’d rather not seen him involved now, but he’s earned his place.

If Verne Gagne, Gordon Solie, and Drew Carey are worthy of being in the WWE Hall of Fame, then Sting sure is.

I’m not going to link to the site, but reports have

Sting vs Undertaker

at Wrestlemania 31.

So excited. /sarcasm

Nah, everything I’m hearing is Sting vs Trips.

Taker is done

RAW 11/24

Well, that was kind of… anemic. Plus, Larry the Cable Guy used to be funny.

At least they haven’t forgot about Daniel Bryan, and they allowed him a bit of schadenfreud on The Authori-tie. I loved the looks of utter disgust they gave him as he cheerfully pranced in their faces.

At least they aren’t reprising Big Show vs Cena XXXVIII. The feud with man-child Erick Rowan should be decent if played back at double speed.

I finally realized the multiple eyes were for Luke Harper, not Bray Wyatt. Because of the way he stares. His match with Ambrose was kind of ehhh, like they both phoned it in. Understandable, since they had both worked hard the night before.

Is the next step in Kane vs Ryback going to be a food fight?

It’s really hard for me to write up my typical biting commentary today. The resurgence of the anonymous GM has seriously dampened my spirits and stifled my creativity. That was such a lame, pointless angle before. The only way this could work is if it was something Stephanie’s doing out of spite, to show how WWE will truly do a toilet spin if the Authori-tie is not in control.

I’ll close with my favorite LtCG joke: My nephew got in trouble for sleeping with his teacher. The bad thing is, he was being home-schooled at the time.

What a fun RAW that ended up being!

I told you, Indy gets all the good shows. I popped pretty well with Daniel Bryan coming back, I wasn’t expecting it at all actually…I figured it would be some heel. The beginning segment was long, but really entertaining so I didn’t feel its length. Quick hits as I think of them:

Koncession Kane is absolutely hilarious! I saw on Twitter that someone was proud of him for taking his new job so seriously since he was really quite meticulous over where his hot dogs and nachos were. My only comment on that is that food services aren’t regulated by the shows that come into the venue, but the venue itself. So not only does DB not have the authority (heh) to relegate Kane to doing that, but having sexy bitchy manager girl act like that means that the management of Bankers Life Fieldhouse is like that. Yes I know it’s a wrestling bit.

Ryback squashing Mark Henry was to be expected, although I enjoyed his bit with Koncession Kane too. “You forgot your nuts!”

Harper/Ambrose was soooooo stupid. Not only was the match really not that good, but the ending was something else entirely. I’d almost rather have a rollup than that. Not that I expected any finish anyway since I knew Wyatt would enter.

Trips and Stephanie were good as always. Steph dials it up to 11 when she’s “upset”, but I think at this point it’s kinda on purpose. Trips is gold as always. The segment with Vince was kinda stupid but oh well

Larry/Santino: I didn’t think either segment was too horrible to be honest. Typical pointless guest star BS, but poor Santino getting bathed in condiments

Dusts vs Mizzuz: Not bad either. I love it when Miz gets hit, and Mizdow jumps into the ring to mimic it, and everyone stops and just watches him do it. TOY BELTS!!! HAHAHA. Shoula used that plug for K mart! Damien still lookin strong! I was impressed when he did that kick-flip thing to stand back up…he’s having fun you can just tell. Anyone else see the person in the audience that had a “yaaay” “boooo” sign?

Divas: Typical BS. Now the Bellas are friends again? I mean, we didn’t even hear about the whole “Servant” thing even tho that technically ends tomorrow. Lesbe honeset wife of CM Punk tell me how talent isn’t sexually transmitted?

Intergendered/mixed species tag: Um…what? The bunny isn’t funny when he accidentally causes Rose to lose. Plus I don’t have much sympathy TO SOMEONE WHO ALWAYS LOSES WHEN THEY GET ROLLED UP. Seriously Adam, you’re a big guy, quit being a pussy. And since it involved Tyson and Natty: lol domestic abuse!

Rusev: I’m so bored with this guy. Fun little cameo by the Sarge, but as soon as the Pledge started happening I said “well here comes Swagger” and lo and behold there he was. They can’t get anyone more fun than him? really? He jobs out to people way less strong than Rusev, how am I supposed to believe he has a chance again? Can we please just have ryback end the streak and we can get on with our lives?

Big Show: Don’t give a shit. Plus Rowan was pretty random.

End match: That was pretty boring as well. Ill-timed commercials. The ending was kinda fun tho with the double finishers/double pins.

Speaking of commercials that Cena Foot Locker commercial is pretty hilarious. Girlfriend thinks that Cena should do SNL, and I think he’d be really good.

I thought the DB segment went too long but was okay. I thought Kane working concessions was legit funny. Ryback v Mark Henry is what it is. I actually really liked the Ambrose Harper match, I don’t know what you guys wanted from that. In particular I liked when Ambrose showed he could actually grind, he had Harper locked in some pretty good armlocks and Harper showed the little touches that make him great–favorig the arm afterwards and actually looking in legit pain during them. I felt like it was a great mixture of more traditional wrestling with some of Ambrose’s more Shieldesque spots. The ending was atrocious but that’s on WWE Creative.

As always I have no interest in Divas matches, but give AJ an A for that mouth: lesbi-honest and “talent isn’t sexually transmitted” were both about as edgy as WWE could get in the PG era and were delivered well.

The Bunny Angle continues to be shameful and bad. Fandango was unwatchable. The main event ended flat. Oh, the tag team match was decent. The Anonymous GM feels like WWE Creative doesn’t know where to go, hopefully they have a clear person in mind and are just building up to a reveal.

Martin: The Harper/Ambrose match wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t their usual level of WOW. I guess one reason is because it didn’t have the psychological buildup that’s such a big part of Ambrose’s matches.

I watched a match between Ambrose and Rollins from their FCW days the other day, before they established the identities they have now. It was all textbook and nowhere near as exciting as their usual matches today. By contrast, the Wyatts vs the Shield match at Elimination Chamber was hugely psychological in nature and stole the show. The Harper/Ambrose match was more of a castoff event to continue Dean’s feud with Bray and wasn’t nearly as gripping as I’ve grown accustomed to.

It also amounts to the fact that Harper isn’t the type of guy that pairs well with Dean-o in the ring.

He is much better with the quicker, more athletic guys than he is with the plodding brutes. With a quicker guy Dean can show off his own athleticism, jump and bounce around, and show his “craziness” by quick bursts of offense.

Against a big slow guy all he can do is slow himself down, which takes it from an Abmbrose match, to a ho-hum wrestling match

LU 11/26

I think Drago’s black shiny tongue is an extension of his own. He somehow keeps it in his mouth the entire match. I could see it creeping out of his mouth when Muertes pinned him.

Move of the night I: Mascarito flips out and lands on top of Ivalise. First time I have ever seen a midget bowl a strike on a woman in wrestling.

Move of the night II: Prince Puma cartwheels, jumps on top of Big Ryck and Cuerto’s goons outside the ring, and lands on his feet. Ta-Daaa!

Move of the night III: Mundo does a running jump from the office ceiling into the ring. I thought he was going to land on Ryck, but that probably would have killed him.

Feliz Thanksgiving, compadres.

CM Punk appeared on Colt Cabana’s podcast to finally talk about leaving the WWE.

CM Punk tells his story of walking out on WWE - Cageside Seats (link to podcast within this link).

Granted, this is only his side of the story. He has no kind words for Triple HHH or Ryback, who he calls a “steroid guy”, among other things. I’ve only read the recap and hope to listen later today, but it sounds like the possibility of Punk coming back at this time is somewhere between slim and none.
