Any WWE fans in the audience? (Part 1)

Naming them GMs (of sorts) also frees up Vince to pay more attention to the XFL which he probably cares about more at this point since it’s his money on the line for it versus a guaranteed moneymaker like the WWE

And now both are being advertised for TV next week. My excitement level for this is quickly falling. If this is just going to be another on-screen authority role why bother?

I did the Death Nut Challenge a few months ago.

Level 1 was “Eh, I’ve had spicier”.

Level 2 was “This actually tastes better than Level 1, but I’m definitely starting to sweat”.

Level 3 was “I’m drenched in sweat and all I can taste now is pain, so I’m going to chug a quart of chocolate milk before I attempt to continue”.

Level 4 was “I GIVE UP, I can’t swallow anymore.”

I waited about three hours before attempting Level 5, which sent me to the bathroom dry-heaving over the toilet bowl for about 15 minutes.

It’s a legitimately insane thing for anyone to do.

“WWE picks two relics of the 90’s to fix its creative stagnation”

I love it. People who promote literacy are heels.

Every wrestling announcer: stop using “Oh, he didn’t hook the leg.” It got old fifty years ago.

Who the fuck is CEO and why is he so over?

Did ANYONE really give a shit about where Brutus the Barber Beefcake was? Was it really necessary to do a WWE Network show on him?

hey he was moms favorite backc in the kayfabe days … if it hadnt ben for the accident hed of been wwf champ at least once or twice

Honkey Tonk man told me at a show that beefcake was supposed to keep the IC belt for a while and then win the world title at some point between wm 5 and 6 to give Hogan a break and the wm 6 match would of been him and someone else possibly Hogan himself but life happened and the warrior had the career that would of been beefcakes
Honky probably would of of gotten the ic title back and then feuded with warrior them maybe warrior getting the world title around wm 7 or 8 because wwe felt he hadn’t “developed” enough of a character/following at the time of the accident

Did something else happen besides AEW Fyter Fest last night? I now see that this event was held in conjunction with a video game convention, and CEO is their organizer. He’s not that skilled in wrestling, but it was all for fun. Tony Khan subtly took a jab at WWE by saying “we’re only going to book non-wrestlers once a year, rather than every week.”

Cody again channeled his dad and took an unblocked chair shot from the former Tye Dillinger that required 12 stitches. I love Darby Allin, but I wish he’d get more offense in. He’s usually going to be the underdog, but he doesn’t need to get beat up 80% of the match.

Moxley returned to his pre-WWE barbarism for sure and seemed happily in his element. Joey Janella reminded me of Necro Butcher, who I saw in Charlotte NC a few years ago. He was barefoot the whole match, his opponent hit him with 6-foot neon light bulbs, and he walked the glass Diehard style. Last I checked, he’s still alive.

Fenix, Pent Jr. and Laredo Kid danced with the Elite, and it was tons of fun, but I miss Pentagon Dark. He was scary in LU, but he’s more of a vanilla lucha in AEW. Maybe they’ll turn him to the dark side in future developments.

I don’t think AEW is going to use the face vs heel angle, ever. At the same time, they don’t have an evil overlord like LU. Cody, Omega and the Bucks That Are Young may be the faces of the company, but they don’t present themselves as authority figures.

Jeez…really had to give that Fyter Fest opinion there, huh? :p:p

The Dope was being really dopey that day. Kept getting timeout errors.

Next weekend, WWE and AEW are going head-to-head LIVE!

Well, sorta.

AEW is running Fight for the Fallen, a charity show to benefit the victims of gun violence, while WWE is running EVOLVE’s 10th anniversary show live on the Network. (Nice exposure for EVOLVE, but a bit of a dick move on WWE’s part.)

EVOLVE’s card is as follows;

  • NXT Championship: Adam Cole © vs. Akira Tozawa
  • EVOLVE Championship / WWN Championship, winner takes all; Austin Theory vs. JD Drake
  • EVOLVE Tag Team Championship: Eddie Kingston & Joe Gacy © vs. AR Fox & Leon Ruff
  • Matt Riddle vs. Drew Gulak
  • Anthony Henry vs. Arturo Ruas
  • Superstar Babatunde vs. Colby Corino
  • Fatal 4-Way; Curt Stallion vs. Sean Maluta vs. Stephen Wolf vs. Harlem Bravado
  • Josh Briggs vs. Anthony Greene with Brandi Lauren

AEW hasn’t announced their full card yet, but this is what’s been slated thus far;

  • Cody & Dustin Rhodes vs. the Young Bucks
  • Kenny Omega vs. CIMA
  • Brandi Rhodes vs. Allie
  • Hangman Page vs. Kip Sabian
  • MJF, Shawn Spears, & Sammy Guevara vs. Joey Janela, Darby Allin, & Jimmy Havoc

Chris Jericho is also scheduled for an appearance at FotF.

I’ll probably watch both shows on delay, since this isn’t 1997 and we’re no longer beholden to watch a show live or not watch it at all.

was the new japan guys there for just the one card or is that going to be a regular thing?

I don’t understand this. Is it a “dick move” when Pepsi runs a sale at the same time as Coke?

Businesses in the same industry compete against each other.

It’s a dick move because WWE is trying to steal eyeballs from a charity show. All proceeds have been pledged towards the victims of gun violence. I am not sure if it FftF will be streaming, but it might hurt local ticket sales if network subscribers choose the already-paid-for option. And if FftF is also on PPV, it will definitely hurt proceeds.

It’s streaming for free in the US and Canada.

Good for fans that FftF is streaming for free, but the WWE juggernaut is still stealing press away from a charity event. Even for fans who follow the dirt sheets and internet gossip sites, the talk has turned from only AEW’s charity event to a mix discussion about WWE’s counter-programming and AEW’s charity event. I fully understand counter-programming; this wasn’t the event to start.

AEW hasn’t reached a talent-sharing agreement with New Japan as far as I know, so we’re likely only going to be seeing their guys in ROH for now.
