Any WWE fans in the audience? (Part 1)

Not a chance Disney even sniffs WWE, at least not under the Disney brand.

I guess if ESPN has some kind of stake in it than it’s techincally Disney, but it would be about as far divorced from the Mouse House as can be. Frankly It’s more of a Universal product since they’re an edgier demo and own USA anyway.

so they call the road agents producers now ? that’s what al the old guys that were fired were basically doing … is making sure the house shows went like they were supposed to

And i don’t know Disney has had WWE and wcw tv shows going at Disney world and no one was impressed with them on any side …

Well, it’s not as if they slap the mouse-ears logo on Marvel or Lucasfilm, but they’re more than willing to milk those brands for every last dollar they’re worth. I can easily see Disneyland/World hosting a WWE-themed attraction, or doing character meet-and-greets with cast members dressed as various wrestlers (or possibly the wrestlers themselves).

So which WWE stars are going to be Disney park costumes?

Undertaker
Hulk Hogan
Ultimate Warrior
Ric Flair
The Fiend

Again, I’d doubt it.

The most I’d see is maybe doing a live event/TV taping/Minor PPV at Wide World of Sports…but that would be it.

I actually want to see Disneyfied versions of WWE characters. It’d be hilarious how they’d get it so right and it be so wrong. Vince would be like the senior citizen version of Gaston.

The world has gone to pot and nothing matters anymore, so I suppose some last-minute MITB predictions would be in order.

  • Men’s ladder match; Aleister Black vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Daniel Bryan vs. King Corbin vs. Otis vs. AJ Styles. Aleister should win, IMO, but I have a sneaking suspicion Corbin is going to win because Vince is just as invested in making him the Ultimate Megaheel as he was in making Roman Reigns the Ultimate Megaface (until he decided that being a cancer survivor with a wife and three kids meant he shouldn’t be wrestling during a pandemic, which Vince considers a sign of weakness and grounds for eternal burial).

  • Women’s ladder match; Nia Jax vs. Asuka vs. Shayna Baszler vs. Dana Brooke vs. Lacey Evans vs. Carmella. Shayna should win here, but WWE is bad at long-term booking MITB winners, so Lacey wins.

  • Drew McIntyre vs. Seth Rollins for the Spicy Nacho Championship. The Chosen One retains.

  • Braun Strowman vs. Bray Wyatt for the Cool Ranch Championship. Braun retains, but in some weird mindfuck way where he turns into Bray’s slave.

  • New Day vs. the Forgotten Sons vs. John Morrison and the Miz vs. Lucha House Party. New Day retains, because they’re one of the only three or four tag teams that are allowed to be champions for longer than a single PPV cycle.

  • Bayley vs. Tamina for the Smackdown women’s championship. Bayley retains, because the idea of Tamina holding a title in 2020 makes so little sense that not even Vince McMahon would countenance it.

  • R-Truth vs. MVP. The happy dancing black guy wins.

  • Jeff Hardy vs. Cesaro. Cesaro wins so Vince can punish Nero’s brother for signing with Cody.

Maybe this will cheer you up Smapti. Aubrey Edwards, AEW referee, talks about how she became the crying girl meme when Daniel Bryan announced his retirement.

That’s a problem with MITB: you can’t really have someone who should be in line for a title shot right away win it. When was the last time someone got a world title shot while still holding their MITB briefcase, anyway?

Two things I haven’t seen:

  1. A MITB holder gets a title shot and loses, but then there’s a run-in, the winner is hurt, and the challenger cashes it in on the spot.

  2. A MITB holder wins a world title - and then, later, cashes it in for a second one. Of course, this is problematic as it breaks the brand split.

Is it a title match? With WWE’s new “we don’t mention when it’s a non-title match” policy, and the fact that the MITB website doesn’t seem to say anywhere that it is a title match (well, that, and the fact that I haven’t seen SmackDown recently), it’s hard to tell sometimes.

So, Otis is Mr. Money in the Bank.

That match was an absurdist clusterfuck that made no sense whatsoever, but it was at least entertaining.

I thought the MitB was very well done. It was different, and they need different right now. It’s the kind of thing that works with no crowd, though personally I would have liked to see more spots on the roof.

This was a fun event, and they made the most of their restrictions.

Lince Dorado worked most of the tag match and took the fall. He’s been an also-ran so often, but he’s making the most of it. Just shows how one can be mega talented, but can’t get any titles without mic skills.

Asuka is making the most of her lack of English by going bug nuts crazy in Japanese and being the chaos element. She also kicked Baron Corbin in the face. Thus, we all must worship her.

The ring announcers still allowed for crowd reaction noise after making intros. In R-Truth’s case, he acted like an actual live crowd was there and he heard them answering “What’s Up!” It fits so well with his self-delusion angle. Seth Rollins on the other hand, made it into more of a moment of silence, like a church thing to go with his Monday Night Messiah gimmick.

I would like to see Otis vs Braun and watch those two big fuckers destroy the place. Sucks for his partner Tucker to drop out of the limelight, but Marty Jannety can show him how to cry in his beer.

Well, that was a hell of a way to start off Raw. And I know kayfabe is dead and all, but couldn’t Rey have given his congrats off camera?

rey is alive?

Alive, but now blinded. Poor Rey, can’t catch a break.

The segment in which Becky relinquished her RAW Women’s Title and announced to new champion Asuka (and the world) that she’s pregnant was truly touching. Great to see these two rivals hugging and congratulating each other.

Supposedly, no one knew on Sunday (including the title change aspect). Not sure if that was sprung on Asuka in ring, though. I loves me some Asuka, but IMHO she’s not a good enough actor to give that genuine a response if she knew in advance, so I think she didn’t know until filming.

Asuka didn’t know until Lynch’s promo. They truly have to expect the unexpected and roll with it.
