I think I’ve discovered another reason why I’m preferring AEW to NXT: AEW doesn’t force their trainees to act like marks at ringside.
In addition, AEW Dark may have unknown indies lose to their stars, but they put on great matches.
Starting Friday and running at least until the end of October, WWE is going back to live broadcasting and moving out of the Performance Center and into the Amway Center in Orlando, which is being temporarily renamed the “WWE Thunderdome” and will have 1,000 LED boards for virtual fans and special effects, pyro, lasers, drone-mounted cameras, and other unconventional camera angles.

The WWE Fan Council sent me an invite to a dress rehearsal of Thunderdome tomorrow night, so if I can get in I’ll report on how it looks. Otherwise I guess we’ll find out on Friday.

Anyone else watching Takeover and having issues? My feed keeps cutting out. It’s really annoying, and I don’t think it’s on my end.
I was able to see it just fine the whole way through.
As far as shows go, it was fine. As much as I love NXT, there really isn’t anyone on the roster I’m super excited to see, so while the show was good, I wasn’t completely crazed about it. That being said, Pat McAfee amirite? Say what you will about celebrities coming off the street and wrestling, but he was hella impressive. Adam Cole did a lot to make him look good, and his move set wasn’t THAT diverse, but he didn’t look out of place in the ring and you don’t see many people doing a Canadian Destroyer in their first ever match.
McAfee did very, very well, but I wasn’t really invested in the match. Only match I really wanted to see was Shirai. The rest are very good workers but nothing is clicking right now.
I skipped the McAfee match. It’s probably the first time I’ve ever skipped a Takeover match. I had zero interest in that angle and hope to Og they don’t revisit it.
I did like the Ladder match, and I was hoping my boy Cameron Grimes would take the North American gold, but it was not to be. I’m also digging Timothy Thatcher and I hope he doesn’t get pulled into RAW underground silliness.
I guess Keith Lee is getting called up. Vince likes da big men, and Lee has enough of a sense of humor to wear chicken suits to the ring.
Do yourself a favor and watch it. Storyline nonwithstanding, it was a fun match to watch.

I just saw his interview with Chris Van Vliet, and he seemed pretty sure he was done with wrestling and was going to stick with straight-to-demand action flicks. I guess Never Say Never applies to wrestling once again.
Barrett was also doing some announcing for NWA Powerrrr. (don’t know how many “r” are the right number). I heard that he was not signed, but was appearing on a show-by-show basis at this time. Don’t know if that has/will change.
He said in the same interview NWA was effectively over. All they can do at this point is wait and reassemble, so talent is going to look for work elsewhere.
I’m tempted to start a change.org to have Kip Sabian’s entrance music be L.S.F. by Kasabian.
