Any WWE fans in the audience? (Part 1)

Anyone hear anything about this?

I would greatly assume that Stewart will show up tonight, but has anyone confirmed?

FWIW, I ended up shelling out for it and I felt like I got my money’s worth. It was definitely a better show than Fast Lane, despite a few sound issues.

In their regular show, they showed bumpers of megastars like Daniel Bryan and CM Punk losing their RoH matches. They also showed the Briscoes when they were clean shaven and had crew cuts. I think the Briscoes did try out for WWE at one point, but were rejected for not being up to “cosmetic standards.”

In a ladder match at Wrestlemania. Huh.

Take six guys, most of whom are over more than management wants them to be because they see these guys as “injury prone”; and stick them in a dangerous match likely to injure one or more of them (especially at the biggest show in the industry where they’re sure to bust their asses and take huge risks), thus reinforcing management’s view of them as injury prone, while keeping them all far away from main storylines.

Give them some credit - it’s been a whole three months since they last did a ladder match for the IC title. How else do you expect them to say “Hey, remember Shawn vs. Razor? That was a good idea we had once, right?”

Of course, that was when the IC wasn’t a jobber title. In today’s booking, Shawn would win and then spend six months getting jobbed out to Tatanka, Goldust, and IRS, miraculously winning on PPVs, and then drop the belt to Hunter Hearst Helmsley before getting shoehorned into a tag team with, let’s say, Marty Janetty.

/lana: внимание, внимание… I be honest. Russia has toilet paper shortage. But our babushka-wiping days have returned. We now have all these Roman Reigns promos to clean our colons.

Amidst the clusterfuck of the main event, it was painfully apparent the crowd wasn’t into Reigns. Rollins was selling big time for him too, but it was a little too obvious he was trying to put Double R over. Orton’s actions erodes the possibility of a matchup with Rollins at WM for now. They threw the possibility of yet another triple-threat champeenship match. I guess they’re down to throwing turds at the wall and seeing which one sticks.

Jon Stewart’s not as funny when WWE wants him to schill for WM. Having celebrities mix it up with rasslers is never a good idea. It makes the “action” look even more fake, and makes the rasslers look like IC champs. Plus, Seth is now about to be overexposed as much as RR. The PR only gets worse from here.

DB in the meantime has to share the spotlight with R Troof as they take turns falling off ladders fighting for a worthless belt.

I have bottomed out in my wrestling zeal. Fuck it, NXT and LU are only a day away. Yay.

What is Joey Samoey doing in the NXT Zone?

meh

S’more Joe never really tickled my fancy. He can turn flips and whatnot, but it’s like watching a hippo in a tutu. I thought he was supposed to feud with Jay Briscoe in RoH.

So yesterday was busy and I never got a chance to review RAW

And now it’s Wednesday and I honestly can’t remember anything that happened outside of the Jon Stewart bit which I thought was pretty decent.

I don’t mind the craziness surrounding the IC title. It’s a bit immature for what is supposed to be a good title (this is more of a tv title scrum IMO) but it’s at least interesting. Plus, I love the shit out of ladder matches so I’m excited to see one. Has R-truth ever been in a ladder match in WWE or otherwise? SPOILER FOR SMACKDOWN: Now that he’s now kidna-sorta-maybe in it…has Cody ever been in a ladder match?

Hey AJ is back! That’s pretty neat. It sounds so boring and stereotypical to get all hot and bothered by her, but I’ll be damned if she doesn’t have the hottest stomach/core that I’ve ever seen in a girl.

I am not a Reigns mark, but I am continually impressed with his improvement over the last month/month and a half. His promos are still a C at best, but his character and wrestling have improved to a solid B and he’s only getting better from what I can tell

NXT tonight, so that’ll be neat.

Andre Memorial “We have no idea what to do with you, so you’re in this match” Battle Royal Match. Where you get a trophy that is absolutely guaranteed to be destroyed the next night on Raw, and then end up dropped lower on the card with Vince saying publicly that you can’t get over.

Who wouldn’t want to sign up for that?

I’m thinking Sheamus will return for the AtGMBR and win it, so he gets to wear the WWE Albatross.

AJ was rumored to be preggers, but she still has her 15 inch waist. I like her because she’s naughty. I always liked the way she would stalk her bfs and give them the “You said something about me behind my back” stare, and the way she would lick her teeth when being bad. She was almost another victim of WWE overexposure. Hopefully WWE’s current antipathy for CM Punk won’t spill over on her.

Ah yes, Bill DeMott, the entire culture of abuse and it’s defenders.

You know, I have permanent damage to my shoulders and a few other parts of my body from the abuse I suffered as a small child. I divorced my ex-wife over her physical abuse of me, including violently assaulting me in my sleep three times. I have an extremely low tolerance for this kind of shit and I do not respect people who resort to insults directed at the people who object to that sort of treatment. Chris Jericho? You used to be my favorite wrestler. Now you’re just a kiss ass. Go fuck yourself. Bill DeMott? You’ve reportedly told people to go kill themselves. Take your own advice.

Rhodes and Sandow were in MITB together a year and a half ago.

Cody was about to win when he was betrayed. Then Cody chased after the case, eventually stealing it and throwing it in the Gulf of Mexico. Then Sandow got his fancy leather briefcase that he handcuffed to the ring posts. Then he cashed in on Cena and lost.

So, it was announced yesterday that Rey Mysterio Jr. has already signed on with AAA. His first match with them will be at their PPV this month, where he’ll be teaming up with Mysteziz (the original Sin Cara) and El Patron against a trio yet to be named. Alas, I don’t think AAA’s PPVs are available in the US, so we’ll have to miss out, but on the plus side, it’s almost certain now that he’ll be appearing in Lucha Underground at some point.

I know he’s not the young man he once was, but it’ll be fun to see him wrestle his own style again outside the constraints WWE put on him.

What style is that? I thought he was pretty high-flying as is.

And for that matter…what IS the WWE style? Does anyone know? I hear that a lot when it comes to Indies/other companies.

Would anyone here happen to have any light on that?

AFAIK, the biggest things are always working towards the hard camera, and having a fixed moveset with unique finishers. WWE actively discourages wrestlers from using a given move if it’s already part of someone else’s “signature” - which is why Miz is the only person who ever uses a figure-four, Chris Jericho is the only one who does a Boston crab, etc. Jason Albert/Tensai commented a few years ago about how the bicycle kick was his big finisher in Japan, but when he came to WWE they wouldn’t let him use it because Sheamus was already using it as his finisher.

I’ve read that WWE is currently promoting a US title match between Rusev and Curtis Axel (who I guess is a babyface now that he’s stopped being Mr. Perfect Jr. and instead become Hulk Hogan Jr.) for Raw next week.

How hilarious would it be if they actually pulled the trigger and Rusev’s first clean loss was to Michael god damn McGillicuddy?

Cena interferes, giving Rusev his first loss. Revenge is vowed vs Cena. Wrestlemania match set

Giving Axel TWO things to storm the ring and crow about before he gets beat up and thrown out.

“I’m STILL in the Royal Rumble Match -AND- I’m the ONLY person to ever defeat Rusev!”

Anyone else suddenly get subtitles for LU today? I checked, and neither my TV nor receiver are set for them, so it must be something being sent by El Rey or Dish Network themselves.

Not quite sure I understood the point of the Ryck/Sexy Star “match.” It didn’t really add in any dissension, or advance anything in the storyline. With more and more ex-WWE people showing up every taping, I think they really need every match of their one hour per week to matter more.
