Lot of staggering this match.
Well, Bray’s got his own WM streak now.
Well, I blew that call.
We all kinda did, good for 'Taker I guess…proving he has the ability to win.
Fingers crossed on a Reigns heel turn that doesn’t involve hayman turning on Brock
No Sheamus so far. Guess we’ll see him tomorrow night.
Brock is getting the VIP fireworks display reserved for presidents.
Suplex city bitch!
Yes yes yes yes yes!!! Seth rollins!!! Fuck yeah!!!
I don’t mind it.
Don’t loooove it, don’t hate it…I’m good with it. Let’s see how tomorrow is eh?
I give mania an 8/10
How about that, a heel win closes the show.
Congrats Seth Rollins!
Great Wrestlemania finish, or the Greatest Wrestlemania finish?
Great.
I’ll take last year’s finish over this any day
Ladder match was my favorite. Also liked the kickoff matches.
Divas match was OK. Seth vs. RKO was pretty intense. Sting and HHH mainly served to give past stars a last hurrah, so the pandering kind of annoyed me.
Cena/Rusev, the constant talking, and the Bray/UT match were all underwhelming.
I liked the resolution to the championship match. Brrrrrock looked dominant, and took some blading to balance things out. RR was definitely not popular tonight, but at least he didn’t give the audience reason to think he was favorably booked. Brock gets to go home and count his millions till next PPV.
This was fun. Talk atchas later.
Didn’t see WM, but heard a lot of good things about it.
How did they work Seth Rollins into the Main Event and make it a three way? Was there an official announcement? Did Brock Lesnar offer to put up his belt?
Otherwise, it just kind of reads like hey next time there’s a title match, just run in halfway through the match, and you get a crack at the belt , too.
No, this was legit. Seth had been holding on to the MITB briefcase for the past 10-11 months and finally cashed it in when both Brock and Reigns were down. Brock got rolled out of the ring, and Seth curb-stomped Reigns a couple times for the win.
I don’t get the point of the whole Sting-HHH clusterfuck, other than as a payday for all of the old cronies. Seemed like Sting was confused by the ending too, like he was supposed to win but Trips called an audible and said “Fuck you, I win”.
Probably for the best that Austin refused to show, because their idea was probably to have Shawn Michaels superkick Sting into a stunner to complete the ‘Shit on Sting’ moment.
The whole thing seemed to play well for the crowd, but put me out of it.
I think we’re setting up for Taker-Wyatt part 2 next year, but that would make no sense if Taker is retiring and going into the HoF. I honestly don’t know where Wyatt goes from here. He’s been half-heartedly built up twice now just to be fed to a bigger fish who doesn’t need it and now I don’t see him as a threat to anyone at midcard level or higher. Thanks [del]Obama![/del] Vince!
I was honestly impressed with Roman Reigns and the beating he took. They seemed to be legitimately beating the hell out of each other and it looked like Brock had some bruises going on from it. Reigns paid his dues in that one match. The only thing that would have been better is if he turned the tables and suplexed Brock at least once. At least would have expanded his limited move set a little.
And then they put the belt on the MVP of 2014. No real complaint about that other than my fear being that we continue the The Authority story line for another year or some bullshit like that.
And the flagbearers were totally out of step with each other.
Speaking of Lana, who’s she going to manage / valet / whatever after the fairly obvious upcoming breakup with Rusev?
I saw it as a WWE vs WCW match, so “of course” the WWE side had to win.
I keep hearing Taker-Sting, possibly as a “double retirement match.” Isn’t Mark Callaway from Texas, which, presumably, is why he would want his last match there?
One other note: I realize it’s the WWE Hall of Fame, but inducting Debrah “Medusa” Miceli as “Alundra Blayze”? Really, Vince? Is it about the whole “title belt in the wastebasket on Nitro” bit?
Let’s do an STC style recap! (apologies if it’s out of order)
Fatal 4 way tag match: A decent match overall. I enjoy how they took out the already injured uso right away so that he didn’t have to further injure himself and to make it obvious that the usos wouldn’t win again. I thought the super-duper suplex that involved everyone was a very "multi-team tag match) thing to do, but it was still fun. Thought it was funny that The New Day wasn’t The Blue Day, but rather The Green Day. Glad the champs retained but, as always, goooo Torito!
Andre the Giant Battle Royale: Good for Big Show for winning this. I never knew he hadn’t won anything like this before, so he deserves to get one. No crazy spots for this one (even my boy Kofi went out like a bitch). Highlight of the match goes to Bo Dallas with his always-hilarious “I’m Winning!!!” run. (Fun Fact: I was playing pool 2 weeks ago, I won, and I did that…it was awesome). Glad Mizdow finally got his spot. Let the feud begin!
IC Title Ladder Match: Seriously does anyone know if Ambrose is dead? I thought to myself before the match started that if we got a crazy spot it was gonna be him or maybe Ziggler. I knew they wouldn’t risk Bryan and figured Harper is too green and Truth is too much of a Puss. The match overall was fun. I liked the dueling headbutts at the end, loved the DA spot, thought BNB and Cody’s suplex was awesome, and I am all for DB being the IC champ. Now on to Sheamus?
Rollins vs RKO: I didn’t see anything in this match that REALLY impressed me. Don’t get me wrong, it was a perfectly enjoyable match…but it wasn’t the barn-burner that everyone (but me) said it would be. Other than the kickass curb stomp-to-RKO spot it was no better than a RAW match
Sting/HHH: Personally this was my match of the night. Not because of technics, or choreography or something like that…but because of fun. The match started slow with Sting taking no big bumps, but once DXs music came up I started laughing and thought “Hey this is fun now.” Then comes the NWO music and I really started laughing. The spots were still old-guy approved but, you know, it was fun! Once I saw Shawn Michaels do his superkick I was prraaaayyyiinnngggg for a Goldberg run in, but alas it was to no avail. HHH wins because heaven forbid you do anything to put WCW over…
Night of 1000 promos: This is where Mania really started to drag. I DO understand that they were basically trying to kill time so it would get dark quicker, I DON’T understand why, if they were so desperate for time, they didn’t just keep the battle royale on the card? The concert was fine (blonde girl is kinda hot…), Trips and Stephanie talking were the usual and the Rock was the Rock. You know, I just don’t mark out for the Rock. Maybe it’s because I missed that time (I was WCW and then nothing) but when he comes out I just think “Oh it’s the Rock” and not “OMG HE’S HERE!”. Then again in the year+ I’ve been watching he’s made probably 5 “surprises”. Rousey was fun I’ll give you that. It was a pretty neat surprise, she put over Dragon Ball Z, and did a couple moves…I was happy. (BTW, credit to Ms. Cups who said "Rocks mom is in the front row, he’s probably here).
Cena/Rusev: A perfectly fine match that ended just how I figured it would. It makes sense now, in retrospect, why Lana took her shoes off. I am in the “love that Cena cares so much about a small title” camp and think he might bring some prestige to it. Wonder how he’ll lose it tho. Maybe back to Rusev?
Taker/Wyatt: This was a regular old wrestling match…who’da thought? Taker goes over because he deserves it? I guess? Wyatt loses ANOTHER PPV, and the new face of fear isn’t frightening at all.
BRRROCK vs Reigns: Did Brock actually blade? or did he get opened up and just bleed like a motherfucker? Either way a Cena-style beatdown on Reigns with a surprise cash-in from Rollins. I was actually surprised, i didn’t see it happening (figured it’d happen tomorrow). Doesn’t matter though, this is a good turn of events.
Anyone have any big predictions on what’s going to happen tonight??
I would think there’s going to be some way of resolving the mad scramble of who will face Seth for the title. Brock, RR, & Orton are all contenders, and the Authority will want to fuck over all of them.
DBD will probably have to defend the IC title vs BNB, since Wade will definitely have a point that he wasn’t pinned and Bryan’s win just proves he can climb.
The Authority will gloat for the first half hour, the middle half hour, and the final half hour, some new feuds will get set up, and Big Show will face off against Hideo Atami (KENTA). Everywhere I look, (KENTA) is always appended to his name. Some people just can’t let go.
