Any WWE fans in the audience? (Part 1)

Here’s the state of WWE…I forgot that there was a PPV this Sunday until ya’ll put your predictions! Now let me take you all to school…

New Day vs Team UpperCat: I don’t know about New Day anymore because I don’t think they can successfully do a heel turn that works. But while I’m sure they will eventually, it won’t happen here. Uppercats over New Day

Nikki vs Naomi: I love the Naomi heel turn because it actually makes SENSE and it’s less a heel turn and more of a “I’m tired of this BS” thing. I don’t fully think they are turning Nikki face, although that’d actually be fine with me cuz she sucks as a heel cuz shes almost the worlds worst actress, and you have to act to be heel. Worlds worst by the way is Nattie. Nikki retains until Paige can do something.

Dean Ambrose vs Luke Harper: Who knew Harper had such a hardcore streak in him? After just being a faceless drone for Wyatt, he has certainly come into his own. I think this’ll be the match of the night and I believe it is the first step to Dean-o getting the Money in the Bank briefcase here soon.

Sheamus vs Zigs: I’m not hating this match because I like each of these guys in their current role. There’s a part of me that thinks this is a strategic move to make Sheamus look strong by him being…well…strong, but also by Zigs ungodly selling ability. Because of this I am thinking the Sheamus wins, but I have no idea how they’re going to do the Kiss me Arse part of it.

The only way I don’t see this happening would be if the Daniel Bryan match doesn’t happen. I can see Sheamus kicking his ass backstage and Zigs winning to avenge DB.

DB vs BNB: Unless the above happens I see this as a painfully boring match since DB is fragile as all getout right now. It could be BNB that beats up Bryan backstage though. If this DOES happen look for BNB to win and take the belt

Cena vs Rusev: That’s A LOT of t-shirts to go to waste if this isn’t a lolcenawins. I sincerely hope that the ending has nothing to do with Lana, I’d really love Cena to just win this one. I also am tired of Rusev/Cena and am ready for Rusev to move on.

Reigns vs Big Show: I am pretty OK with a Reigns win on this. I hate to be another one who piles on Show, but I’m kinda bored with him as a heel. I like him as a face much better as kind of the hero-to-the-masses kind of superhero thing. I don’t see how he can turn face, but it’s Big Show and he almost certainly will somehow/eventually. The right kind of win could help Reigns here. I don’t think he should pull a lolcenawins and come back from the pain! Or, whatever. I would much rather just see him win pretty strong.

RKO vs Rollins: I don’t even know where to begin with this one. Between obviously knowing that the RKO will be used, interference from J and J or Kane (or both) will happen, and Rollins retaining I…um…is there anything compelling in this match? Like, at all? I couldn’t be LESS interested in a main event if I tried. Rollins wins for some retarded reason. Roll credits.
Predictions for RAW: Every goddamn Extreme Rules match, only again, and with the same results

Here’s part of an interview Chris Jericho had with Cesaro. He reminisces about his days in RoH and Chikara, where he was part of Los Ice Creams.

All those times we parodied Vince McMahon here? Turns out we were right.

Not quite; the main event will be a tag match, with Rollins and Cena against Orton and Rusev, which ends when Lana “officially” turns on Rusev and Team Boo-urns (“Mr. McMahon, sir, they’re not booing the faces; they’re saying Boo-urns”) wins.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they start a vignette series on Lana being transformed into a die-hard capitalist consumer - Part 1: makeover on Rodeo Drive.

Apropos of not much, a cage match is no DQ. So Orton should RKO the fuck out of everyone, including the referee, because what, exactly, are they going to do to him? (He should then run away, because a cage match is the one match you win by running away from your opponent.)

If it’s not clear, I’m not too jazzed about this PPV, and will be watching Game of Thrones tonight.

They will totally DQ him for using an RKO you just watch

WWE has now finally confirmed that Daniel Bryan won’t be on tonight’s show. Instead, Barrett will be fighting The Artist Formerly Known As Adrian Neville on the pre-show.

I’ll be asleep, as usual, and will watch the replay tomorrow.

If they want to put the belt on Orton, they’ll show him setting up for an RKO, then have the lights go out, then have Rollins laid out when they come back on - “I didn’t see any RKO…”

I’m even less excited for Extreme Rules than I was for Wrestlemania. Thank goodness it’s included for free when I pay 9.99 a month for NXT.
And there have been cage matches that have ended in DQ before. Stupid, but it has happened.

But you’d miss Kal Drago vs Gregor the Mountain!
(Reigns vs Big Shoo, hehe)

Ha! Well, I like the preshow and the first couple matches.

Glad to see Neville get a spectacular win and much NXT honorage. I loved BNB’s promo prior to the match, snarking on Michael Jordan’s gambling. I liked the one he had for DC. “Your racist football team still isn’t going to win this Sunday!”

I marked out for Sandman vs Mick Foley… sorry, I meant Dean Ambrose vs Luke Harper. I was hoping they’d weave in and out of the entire card and actually end the show, but the insect emerging from the cocoon (what JBL called Ambrose rising out the pile of chairs) leads to a Dominant Dean. I wanna see more of these two freaks fighting.

The Noo-hoo Day-hee vs Cesaro/Kidd had its clever spots, like when Cesaro & Kidd stomped on Big E in the corner to the same rhythm as their clap. STOMP! STOMPSTOMP! I actually called this one, even though that’s the only prediction I made for the card, so I’ll just stop at 100% accuracy, hee hee.

Ziggy vs Sheamus… I was too homophobic to watch this match, so I found reasons to become distracted. I’m glad they at least didn’t show any plumber’s crack. I like Sheamus’s evil bagpipe music, but that hairstyle suggested that those who are into postapocalyptic head fashion like to do the butt stuff, like in Mad Max. Thing is, the “kiss me arse” concept has not been taken off the table just yet, bc Ziggy has to get his revenge to get his heat back. THAT MEANS THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN PEOPLE!

Anyhoo…

Cena vs Rusev II wasn’t anything out of the unpredictable, that’s all I’m sayin’ about that. Same for the Divas match, but it was intriguing to watch Naomi’s shoe colors slowly change from green to blue. Reigns vs Big Show was better than expected, with everything outside the ring being destroyed.

Cage matches are always stupid. Unless there’s a superflex off the top, or a lantern that summons ghosts, and there wasn’t. They could have pulled off Vintage Orton off the top of the cage, but they didn’t. There weren’t really any HOLY SHIT moments, even though both guys worked a competent match.

Slightly below average as far as PPVs go. Luke & Dean stole the show as expected, but nothing else came as close.

For a PPV that I spent about 55% of my focus on it actually wasn’t THAT bad…

Good for Neville for picking up the win. He is going to be a star in this league and I can’t wait until he is in some kind of title contention. I also think it’s wrestlers like him that have the potential to bring more viewers in. Seeing a fit guy doing all the flips and kicks and stuff is just plain fun!

Ambrose and Harper (part 1) was decent enough. Just as I figured it’s Ambrose taking most of the punishment with an odd thing here or there for Harper to do. I still think he’s learning to take those bumps, so I’m not hating on him for it. Getting into a car and zooming away is kinda dumb IMO, but that’s just me.

New Day vs Team Uppercat was, IMO, the match of the night. I thought each team performed admirably the spots were good and it was the only match of the night that was actually compelling because I didn’t know who would win, so every nearfall was a “This is it!” moment. I mean, did you HEAR the crowd when Kofi went for the cover? It was the loudest pop of the night. Maybe I’m starting to get smarky, but matches that have obvious endings just don’t do it for me. I like the idea of putting the belts on New Day too, get the crowd even more riled up against them.

Reigns Vs Big Show was one of the better ones too of the night because of the destruction aspect. Reigns going though the two tables, the spear through the barricade and the spear through the announcers table were really good spots. I see nothing wrong with this match

Bo Dallas vs Ryback? I guess? That was weird but yay for a Ryback win, I like Ryback.

Naomi vs Nikki was great for the ADD in me cuz, you know, lighty shoes! It took me around 1/4 of the match to realize they were lit up, and 3/4 of the match to realize they changed color. The match was good for divas. I wasn’t a fan of the fans kinda shitting on it because this was the most physical divas match I’ve seen since NXT

RKO with-no-RKO vs Rollins was boring, predictable, and left me feeling empty inside…just like my wife! (ha cha cha!). My favorite moment was King saying “WHAT IS HE DOING IN THERE” for Kane…well he was obviously going to help ONE of the two guys jeez. Also loved Cole freaking out over the “suplex from the top of the cage!” that was actually just from the top ropes…but whatever floats your boat dude. Is Kane’s Authority betrayal him going solo? or retiring? hmmmm…

Kane isn’t going anywhere soon. It’s time to give him another push as the Demon Kane, eventually he’ll be too old to pull it off, and he’s the perfect character to get revenge on Lesnar for beating up the Undertaker.

Yesterday afternoon I watched an old RAW where Mick Foley won the title from the Rock. While I was watching it I realized that episode of RAW would be better than the PPV, and I was right. They have some talent and they’re wasting it with stupid storylines and uninspired matches.

Instead of coming back last night Ambrose and Harper should have gone sight unseen until the 8:00 hour on Raw tonight. Go totally over the top with the idea that they’ve been fighting for over 24 hours.

Just keep it going, show after show, week after week. Driving up and brawling through the arena, back out the door and driving off again.

“Peter Griffon and that Chicken have nothing on these guys!”

Oh, and if you get a chance, go back and review and see if I’m wrong here.

I could have sworn Naomi was wearing some kind of leggings. You see it more when she’s sitting there at the end of the match. Just a completely consistent yet somehow slightly wrong color to them. Makes sense though, as they look mostly natural and yet would prevent any on-air ‘slips’ with those tiny leather bikini bottoms she wears.

Hey you know when you’re watching wrestling and you think “Man, this sport would be great if it only had some kind of Prog Rock connection that speaks to my soul” and “If only wrestling could tackle THE REAL issues of this world”

Well apparently TNA has you covered, this should be fun…

Oh joy, now TNA wrestlers are going to whine about social injustice.

Billy Corgan has actually owned his own territory, Resistance Pro Wrestling out of Chicago, for several years now, and FWIW it’s said to be one of the highest-paying indies out there.

Mostly, I liked Extreme Rules. I thought Ambrose and Harper fighting their way out of the arena and back was hilarious, and I’m happy that Dean finally picked up a PPV victory. Reigns was amazing in his match, and his win here just might have started him back on the path to the top, and I loved Cena/Rusev.

On the other hand, Naomi’s new ring gear and music are awful, the Bo Dallas/Ryback segment was pointless, and the finish of the main event made no sense - Orton RKOs Kane, which should have been a DQ but the ref doesn’t call it, then Rollins RKOs Orton, which should have been a DQ but the ref doesn’t call it, and then Rollins leaves the cage, and THEN the ref calls the match and declares Rollins the winner. On top of that, there were like fifty times during the match when both wrestlers decided to stand around and preen over their unconscious opponent instead of climbing the cage and winning the world title. At least maybe we’re done with Corporate Kane now.

My only reason against making Kane the Demon again is that they changed it so that it’s no longer a badass mask, it just looks like an old guy in a shitty Halloween costume
