Anybody done online consignment for clothes?

Like ThredUp or some such. Not the really ritzy designer stuff, not Ebay where you have to list things individually.

I’m trying to weed my closets HARD. (I think that whole Life Changing Whatever of Tidying Up is largely stupid but does make sense for clothes. I have a lot of clothes that do not spark joy.)

I have a consignment place here where I have consigned a ton of stuff. The problem is that the times you can go are not convenient for working people, especially now that I have a baby, it’s way out of my way, and the lines are long so even on the day I can go it’s a serious time commitment and I have to take the baby and risk being late for work.

So I know all these online places, on the one hand they don’t have the retail overhead but on the other hand surely them making it easy on me means I’d get less money. On the other hand, I want to get rid of this stuff. Mostly I guess mid range - the Target stuff goes to Goodwill, this is more like Banana Republic, Ann Taylor Loft, Lands End, etc.

Have you used these places? Did you think you got a decent value back considering? Would you recommend one over others?

Nobody?

Well, I was going to, and had Twice send me a bag to fill and send back to them, but I procrastinated too long. I just got an email the other day that told me they’re combining with ebay or something, and will no longer accept clothes.

I’ve heard ThredUp doesn’t pay quite as well, but that’s secondhand (ha) info.

We have a Plato’s Closet and Clothes Mentor in town, so I’ll probably end up doing that instead.

I’ve done ThredUp, but had no experience with any other consignment venue, so have no comparison. I didn’t get a lot from what I sent in, but it was more than I’d have gotten by taking them to goodwill.

it was very easy, which is why I did it that way.
