Anybody else creeped out by the Baby Grace artist rendition?

I don’t know what it is, but it creeps me the hell out. I think it’s the teeth.

Yikes

I hadn’t heard anything about this news story until now, but my first impression of the image was something like "It looks like a dead person that has been dug up, washed a bit (but not enough), repaired using wax and plaster, painted and put on display.

In short, she still looks a bit too dead.

Can’t sleep…Baby Grace will eat me!

yes yes and yes…

I feel kind of bad saying it, but honestly that is the wierdest creepiest picture. I saw it on the MSN homepage (a bitty 50x50 pixel version) and actually started to feel REALLY bad for the girl, because I thought she had some sort of disfigurement as well… until I saw the bigger version and saw it was an artists creepy nightmare.

Yes, at first glance I thought that was how she looked when they found her.

Ditto to all that & fie on thee for linking that!

Couldn’t the artist have humanized the pic?

Ahhh! What is that?!

I cannot follow that story - what was she doing in Texas? They’re all from Ohio, right? And the parents told their relatives that a social worker had her, but nobody wondered where she was and when she’d be returned?

It’s just awful, any way you look at it.

I met a lady in a bar once, she smelled of alcohol and matches lighting. Her age was somewhere between 25 and 50 depending on the lighting. I let her bum a cigarette but that’s as far as I was willing to go, flat out refusing when she offered to dance with me. That drawing looks strikingly like her.

Yes, and the first thing it reminded me of were the creepy pictures of “the boy in the box.” That’s what they called a dead child found back in the 50s, and they dressed him up and posed him with toys hoping someone would be able to identify him. He never was identified, and every once in awhile they show his story on tv. I’m not providing a link, as I don’t want to accidentally view those pictures again.

Anybody remember one of David Cronenberg’s early films, The Brood?

That picture has more than a passing resemblance to Regan (from The Exorcist), and I don’t mean when she was still a not-yet-possessed sweet little girl.

Eh, I don’t think it would be creepy-seeming if you didn’t know the circumstances.

I think it’s the coloring of the cheeks. They have a dirty, three-days-buried zombie texture.

I thought I saw this on TV this morning; until now, I was convinced I had fallen asleep and dreamed it. I’m guessing it was based on a forensic reconstruction of the child’s head? Maybe Court TV has spoiled me, but I thought forensic reconstructionists/artists were a bit more skilled than what I’m seeing.

(There’s a fish from somewhere in South America that has teeth exactly like those in the artist’s rendering.)

I had no idea who Baby Grace was till I just googled it, and it looks bad. Like those paegant girl photos we had a thread about a while ago.

It is quite a creepy picture. Looks like some of the (bad) baby dolls I’ve seen…

Who’s baby Grace?

A fisherman found a dead toddler in one of those rubber storage containers. Police named her Baby Grace and were distributing that picture hoping someone would recognize her.

What it reminds me of are those creepy retouched photos that horrified people in this thread. And far, far too many visible teeth.

For me, Village of the Damned.
