In a recent thread (I’m not going to search for it now because the hamsters seem a bit weary) where I found out that Patriot Day cards existed, I predicted that we would get one from my mother-in-law. Guess what I got in the mail today? Damn, she’s good.
It doesn’t actually say “Patriot Day” on it, but it does feature stars and stripes and the words, “What it means to be an American”.
I am a little embarrassed to say I actually BOUGHT one of these glurgy things, but in my defense I am planning to send it to someone serving in Afghanistan who I think will appreciate it.
If it was from Hallmark, I have to jump in and say they’re technically Vetrans’ Day cards which were marketed as being “appropritate for Patriot Day”. I didn’t notice that we sold very many of them in the couple stores I service but I understand this was the first year they were offered. There are some glurgy ones, but some of them are pretty nice. There was one for cops & firemen that I thought was nice and would be appreciated. (I think it was titled “for those who protect & serve” or something.) I was going to send one to a friend who recently became a policeman but I don’t know his home address, so I’ll have to just tell him about it next time we get together, lol. (I’m going to check hallmark.com and see if they have it as an e-card.)
Weirdest upcoming card series: Apparently October is “Clergy Appreciation Month” so we’ll soon be displaying cards for that. Most peculiar!
