So, just finished reading The Resurrectionist by Jack O’Connell and really liked it. I knew nothing about it going in (thus unwittingly reading yet another in a “unreleated books with children in peril” series I seem to have stumbled upon since becoming a new father and finding I really don’t have tolerance for that right now) and so had no idea what kind of book I was holding as it took me further and further down the rabbit hole. I kept expecting there to be one more layer of unreality pulled back — had a hard time accepting the “real world” as it was portrayed.
Anyway, my question, fellow readers is this: do you see the ending as a happy one? Is the choice Sweeney made the right one?
He made the doctors so cartoonishly evil that I feel uncomfortable supporting them, but stem cells might be the best option for the kid, rather then going off to the middle of nowhere to try and climb, drug-induced, into his the world in his skull.
