Oh, it’s not as big a deal as it sounds like. Fischer played twenty-four games simultaneously this way. He won 20, drew 2, and lost 2. I can’t even finish one. I mean maybe I could, but timing is very critical in this position. It isn’t just trying to reach a position anymore. The moves have to be made in the right order, and the permutations are giving me a headache.

I kind of followed it a little. Kasparov is a great player, no doubt about it. And his FIDE rating is higher than Fischer’s was, but there could be all sorts of reasons why that isn’t relevant. There was something almost supernatural about Fischer’s play. I believe he was the best player who ever lived. Including Kasparov.
