Anybody having trouble with Verizon? (Outbound calls)

Our family has mobile phone service through Verizon. My stepdaughter has a couple of sick kids and was trying to call their schools yesterday to let them know. But whenever she tried to call them, she never heard the phone dialing out or ringing, it just went dead. But she was able to call our house, call other mobile #s, send texts, etc.

This morning she called me to ask if I could call the doctor’s office for her and make an appointment for one of the kids, because her phone was doing the same thing as yesterday. So I tried to call the doctor’s office from my cellphone, and the same thing happened to me. I wound up calling them from my desk phone at work.

When I mentioned to the receptionist that I was calling for my stepdaughter who was having phone issues, she said “We’ve been getting that a lot the last couple days. The phone rings, we answer it, and nobody’s there.”

So it sounds like there are some issues with the Verizon network. Is anyone else having this problem? I’m wondering if it’s a local issue or more widespread.

Had a issue last night, the first call had no indication of audio and I’m not sure it went through, but a hangup and redial worked normal.

It may help if you state where you were, I was in NJ at the time, perhaps hitting NYC towers.

Good point. I’m in Lawrence KS, about 40 miles east of KC.

All working in MD. Probably a local or regional network issue.

Not sure how widespread it was but they finally got it fixed yesterday. I went by the Verizon store over lunch and the place was packed, so I figured they must be aware of the problem and I didn’t bother to wait around to talk to anyone. It seemed to only affect cell-to-landline calls from what we could tell.
