I picked that up on Steam last week, and I am enjoying it. Any Dopers smashing elves?
For those that don’t know, it is a video-game adapation of a Warhammer-themed board game based (somewhat) on American Football. It has league and team management, with race-based teams (Human, Orc, Dwarf, High Elf, Dark Elf, Wood Elf, Bretonnian, Norse, Skaven, Lizardmen, and Chaos, with Undead, Nurgle, and Necromantic coming soon as DLC).
Not me. It’s worse in almost every way to Blood Bowl : Chaos Edition - which I still play religiously. Steam says I’ve clocked over 800 hours on that one ;).
Yeah, i wasn’t willing to give up the much larger roster of teams and years of fixes for slight improved animations.
So I should be checking out Blood Bowl: Chaos Edition then. Can do! I was unfamiliar with the whole concept, so I assume the rules are the same, and that is all I would be concerned with.
That’s my complaint as well. For me to even consider playing Blood Bowl 2, they need to add at least one team I want to play, and I know they won’t be doing that for years.
Yeah, the rules are the same. It’s uglier than BB2, and the single player aspect is worse (but then again, who the hell plays single player ?!), also no Bretonians but you get Khorne instead, which is fun to play if hard. Oh, and BB1 doesn’t automatically ask if you want to disable dodge when pushed towards the sidelines, which is a good thing BB2 does - you can do it in 1 too but it’s a PITA in practice.
In all other respects, BB1 is just better - players are more distinguishable between each other, the UI is better, the loading times are better, you have waaay more teams to play with (and not 8 bucks a piece, either)… Honestly at this point I’m only afraid they’ll shut down the servers to drive people towards BB2, because for many people that’s the only thing that’d do it.
I don’t like their take on the Khorne team - Khorne is literally the god of violence for violence’s sake, so it’s rather out of character for them to be deliberately designed not to be the Chaos bash team.
If your Bloodthirster doesn’t kill half the opposing team before he’s finally brought down, I don’t know what to tell you :). Plus with aaaaall that Frenzy going on, if you play your cards right and have some guard on your side your average match ends up with you having thrown like 1.5x as many block dice at your opponent’s face than with any other team (even Norse) - that or thrown all his guys off the pitch turn 5. They’re bashy alright. Fragile, but bashy.
