My brother who was born in 1953 had mentioned in the past watching a “wildlife” show in which the host basically went around killing animals in Africa and other places like that. My brother described an episode where the host of the show shot an elephant with a handgun. Nobody but my brother has a firm memory of the show, so I don’t know if he was just yanking my chain, or if there actually was such a show.
I wonder if Monty Python was spoofing that show in that skit where Graham Chapman was the hunter, hunting mosquitos with explosives…
“I’ve been a hunter all my life. I love animals…that’s why I like to kill 'em.”
I was playing around with the IMDb. Maybe I got lucky. I this it? Fishing & Hunting Club It debuted a few years before your brother’s birth but being generally naive about the state of TV in that era perhaps they replayed some episodes.
Doubt it, since the only thing the IMDb has to say about it is
One would think that if it showed footage of a guy whacking an elephant that that would at least get a mention.
