Is the artist Jeff Healey?
[/rising out of the depths of lurkdom]
Nope.
that just about does it…we haven’t even got the artist yet and we only got one more question.
My guess:
Gordon Lightfoot, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
FTR, Jeff Healey was a dumb guess cuz he really doesn’t fit the time period.
Gordon Lightfoot - Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald?
Look at the spoiler two posts up!![]()

I guess great**?** minds think alike.
I really had Jeff Healey and “Angel Eyes” on my mind because I heard the song today on the radio. Then I realized the time frame. Plus I saw Healey a few years ago at his bar in Toronto.
Sternvogel was online when I made my guess. I guess he took off before checking back
You are correct! (as was RNATB a couple of hours later).
While researching the question about the “major motion picture soundtrack”, I saw that a film called Rescue Me: The Story of Edmund Fitzgerald had been on the drawing board. It would have starred Mariah Carey. However, I never read the linked article until now – turns out the story was a joke.
There is, however, apparently at least one actual documentary on the sinking which features Wreck on its soundtrack. The reason I didn’t specifically reveal this was that I felt that I would have given too big a hint by (correctly) suggesting that the song was based on an actual event.
I probably won’t be online enough to answer many questions so I will pass this to RNATB or anyone else that wants a turn.
