Anybody watching Harry's Law this season?

I love this show, it’s intense, funny, smart and sometimes, Dark as all get out. Not really crazy about Harry having a more conventional office ( Although it means we’ll be seeing more of Tommy J. and he’s grown on me, irritatingly enough.
I really like the current story arc, not least because I think Alfred Molina is sexy as all get out.

we’re hoping it gets its charm back, too many changes for season 2 that will make it “just another lawyer show” is what I’m afraid of - but we’re watching, hoping.

Nice to see Harry hasn’t given up her weed, even if Tommy stopped her this week. I miss Malcolm, though, and the street dudes.

I regret to inform you that you have exceeded the once per post quota for the use of the phrase “as all get out” and your permission to use that term has been suspended for the remainder of the calender year. Further violations during the suspension period may result in permanent sanctions against the use of the phrase. Thanks for your cooperation.

Yeah, I’m watching; I liked the quirky differentness the show had in its 1st season. So I cheerfully tune into the 2nd season’s premiere, and…

What, the shoe store has an upper floor (floors), accessible by an elevator we’ve never seen before?

When did they decide to expand their base of operations, and on what money? The practice was getting better/more well-known, but what happened to being a small oddball law firm for the people of the street?

Jenna/Brittany Snow has had TWO cameos so far, with no appearances AT ALL by Malcolm/Aml Ameen or Damien/Johnny Ray Gill. These people were major parts of the show last season, and vapor this season.

There were probably upwards of 8 or 10 people in the new law office’s background. Tommy’s associate I get, Harry’s new (and law-degreed, presumably) associate I get, even maybe one for Adam. Who do all those other people work for?

The two episodes seen so far have been entertaining, and I look forward to more, but the Harry’s Law I’m watching this season isn’t the Harry’s Law I was watching last season. To my mind, there was no warning of the changes beforehand, or a solid explanation of them afterward.

Btw, who murdered Molina’s wife? Was it him or, as I suspect, his allegedly bi-polar son? Or someone else?

That storyline was continued into the third show, coming up this next week

It’s totally the bi-polar son. He was weird as all fucking get out.

IMHO - they are working the “sleeping pill” angle enough that if he did do it, it has something to do with the side affects of that, and Tommy will ‘finally’ figure that out and his experience in those cases will come into play.

My bet is on Lesbian love affair with the “best friend” at work.
Of course, seeing a rat in the bed might cause some to run to the bathtub and panic and slip.

Yeah - this season took a big left turn with cast and interior decoration. It’s like they got the winner of HGTV’s Design Star and said, “We liked Ally McBeal and Boston Legal, so what can you do with our office and cast?”

I have to admit, a three-parter for an opening this season is a bit much. I far prefer shows that wrap it up in one episode, but maybe that is just me.

Good call, DMark.

Well, I wasn’t expecting THAT ending! At least they let us know who the real killer was; unfortunately I don’t think the real killer said enough to get arrested. And Hosanna got the smackdown she so richly deserved. Not a bad wrap up, overall.

I do hope they go back to the multiple cases in an episode, though. I like that format better.

There would be just as much, if not more, reasonable doubt/lack of evidence if they ever tried to prosecute the daughter for this.

But yeah, quite an ending - wonder what Hosanna does next.

The twist that I see coming late in the season is that Harry gets herself into a situation that only Hosanna can solve. If Hosanna is actually disbarred, then she’ll join the team as a “fixer.” If she retains her license to practice, she joins as a junior staff member, and reports directly to “The Smart Bomb” associate who previously reported to Hosanna as a junior DA. (convoluted enough?)

Total WAG there but I just don’t see the writers wanting to let go of the tension that Hosanna and Harry generate when they are onscreen together.

(ETA) Actually, Hosanna creates tension no matter WHO she’s onscreen with, so maybe joining Harry’s team is a premature prediction. Maybe she hangs out her own shingle and becomes the “Anti-Harry.” It would be much more gratifying to see Hosanna and Harry continue to be adversaries, rather than as reluctant allies.

Only problem with that is that Hosanna can only be ‘anti-harry’ as a DA - its not like people get to hire thier own prosecutors -

I don’t think so. Hosanna could be a very effective “anti-Harry” as a defense attorney. Harry strives to practice with as much decency as the profession will permit. Hosanna doesn’t.

They don’t have to be at opposing tables to be adversaries.

And yet they are bringing in Camryn Manheim next week for a long gig.
Don’t get me wrong - I like her - but geez, does David Kelly ONLY work with actors from previous shows?

I hope Hosanna (Jean Smart) comes back, and wouldn’t be surprised if she hires Harry to represent her in her disbarment trial.

I can’t imagine that Jean Smart was hired and the Hosanna character created just for that three-episode arc. I think she’s meant as an ongoing antagonist for the main character.

I haven’t seen last week’s episode yet, so I skimmed this thread with one eye. My understanding is that Brittany Snow’s character will be written out in future weeks. She’s already done filming, per the head makeup artist. (Jori Jenae-Murphy, I follow her on Twitter, she gives little inside scoops that may or may not be intentional.) One of many not-so-great changes this year, though I can deal with the more conventional office (though who are all those people?) and I like the presence of Tommy Jefferson.

Mark Valley’s character is awful, though, he’s got to go.

I hope she sticks around, but Smart’s done some of her best work (and won at least one Emmy) in the post-Designing Women years doing short and amazing and memorable guest arcs. Notably, on Frasier.

Oh no more Brittney Snow??!!:frowning:
