I am enjoying this show. I just wish everyone would get off Johns back. I think he has the talent, just not the talent for telling people what he wants.
I can’t wait to see how it turns out next week when (according to the previews) he calls the Director of Photography “Mr. Smarty Pants.”
I don’t know. I sort of think that the sooner Gulager lets go of this being a “dream” project and sees the film as a contractual obligation, the better off he’s going to be, psychologically. He alluded to as much towards the end of the last episode. Again, as I said before, I do think that Gulager has talent, but it’s just that from a production standpoint he’s effing it up. They’re not making their days, and while I realize that much of filmmaking is hurry-up-and-wait and a lot of standing around, this show is certainly doing a lot to reveal how much of it is interminably slow.
I’m intrigued by Clu Gulager’s criticisms of the production and the way the various crew members treat John and the actors. He was certainly riled up by the way they interrupted him working with John; or maybe that was part of him getting to the set hours early. Maybe someone with a better understanding of how directors and actors work on a film, both historically and presently, can elaborate on the relationships between them. I’ve no real idea, and would like to know.
I think he ended up being a much better director than he’s been made out to be.
Apparently he has already directed Feast 2 and Feast 3. So he wasn’t a complete disaster apparently.
Now the guy on the latest season of PG (Season 4), is a true douchebag.
Wow, blast from the past.
I quite liked Feast. It has a surprisingly strong 6.4 on IMDb, though only 56% on rottentomatoes.
More recently, Gulager directed the Piranha 3D sequal Piranha 3DD with Danielle Panabaker.
