Three episodes in on season three. Mind still enjoyably broken.
Just finished episode 5. To those who are as far (and if farther who can respond without spoiling) … okay so …
The in the past Jonas not remembering having met alt-Marta before made it pretty clear that there was another Jonas somehow. But I still was not expecting that! Where the heck does the other Jonas come from. Is there another alt-world they are going to introduce??? Or did an alt-Jonas somehow exist in alt-world just not in Winden?
Is that maybe why alt-Marta’s scratch was on her left when she first rescues Jonas, but is on her right when she gets it crawling through the cut fence? That they are actually different alt-Martas?
Is it now implied that Peter is actually Hannah’s and Egon’s son?
And just making sure I didn’t miss or forget something … but we have not yet seen how the 18whatever crew got there, have we?
I’ll likely get through another ep or so today. I’m sure some will be answered and some more confused!
Yes enjoying the confusion!
Finished and …
I am a bit disappointed. I guess one can hand wave away anything and all that does not fit with there being many other alt-paths around the edges that we were seeing little bits of? Matha’s flip to shooting Jonas to protect her unborn/future child based on one hug? Jonas being unable to kill himself because he already exists in the future? Then why did they need to tend the paths so much?
Still a fun ride.
Last night we watched the first episode all the way through but we were so confused since it’s been so long we decided to re-watch the first episode of the first season. Turned out to be a really good idea. It makes things a lot clearer and it kind of jogged our memory. Tonight we watched the second and third of season three. It’s just a lot to take in. It’s not something I could binge on, it’s exhausting!
My wife loves this show. We watched season 1 together and I really enjoyed season 1 as well. Then by the time season 2 came out I felt pretty confused because I didn’t remember a lot of what happened in season 1, and I didn’t really enjoy season 2 as much, though my wife still thoroughly enjoyed it.
When season 3 recently came out my wife was excited and wanted to start watching it with me right away. I tried looking up recaps online and getting up to speed that way, but I just felt exhausted after trying to follow the cast of characters and all their character iterations. I told my wife to go ahead and watch S.3 on her own, don’t wait for me to catch up. I didn’t know S.3 had a 10-minute recap, that might’ve helped. I might just rewatch the whole series on my own.
My younger son also enjoys the show, and he already binge-watched all of season 3 on his own. He didn’t give any spoilers, but says he didn’t like the ending. Without giving any spoilers, those of you who’ve seen the ending, how did you like it? Did it wrap everything up well?
I’ve watched it 3 times so far. I can’t wait for a second season. I was never a big fan of the original film, but I love this show. I like Seledon who most people hate.
Yeah, this show is not for casual viewing. You almost have to watch each season twice to get and keep everything straight.
And then just when I thought I had the timelines down, they spent much of a late episode flicking between the 33-year intervals. None of my immediate social circle was watching with me, either, so I had to figure things out on my own (I’m not particularly bright and I still have questions).
Very sad to be done with it now.
Dark Crystal you mean maybe?

I was also somewhat disappointed with the ending overall even though there were aspects of it I liked lots. Too much NOT wrapped up well. But the ride was still a very fun one and I may rewatch from the start at some point to see better how it fits together.
I just finished the season. I enjoyed the first episode and it was fun to compare to the first epi of season 1. After that it was a bloody mess. What a mess. And yet we watched 6 episodes straight today. So it was …good? My daughter and I did a lot of groaning and I think that last bit felt tacked on and pointless. Won’t say more or I’ll need spoiler tags which I have no idea how to do yet.

OOOh thanks
Finished the final season. Grudgingly. (GF insisted.) I feel betrayed. The show started out as a mesmerising, compelling time capsule of small-town Germany and its alluring cozy aesthetic, a relatable context of small-time youth drama and the domestic tension of adult relationships, with an undercurrent of sinister mystery.
It turned into a mess of tangled nonsensical timelines that I don’t give a shit; completely abstract and unrelatable notions of pseudo-scientific mumbo-jumbo, and poorly lit scenes of people glaring and whispering and moaning in dilapidated rooms. I feel fucking betrayed.
I thought there were 10 episodes in Season 3. So the whole time the climax was building, I was waiting for the sudden setback to their plan. Or some kind of reveal that there’s more going on. Nope. Oh. they did it. The End.
They were guilty even in this last show of dragging things out. The long-winded explanation from Claudia over shots of J and M in the tunnel. The slowpoke scene in the “time tunnel” as they each have their vision.
And after all that dragging, a VERY insufficient denouement. I wanted to see more of what the “proper” world was like. It was cool to see who was around the table, but that was not enough.
Same here. I was mesmerized with the first and second seasons, and had been waiting impatiently for the third season, to the point that it became some sort of a ‘highlight’ I’m looking forward to that would take my head away from my personal life and problems, and into this magical and atmospheric world of Winden and its characters.
Was terribly disappointed with the mess they made out of it. Just a bunch of people running into their younger selves, Martha with her constant pained expression, Jonas keeps on walking into and out of the cave to lower his hood and launch into a screaming fit every so often. The three-guy hit squad. The post-apocalyptic world was never fully explored. The 19th century bits could be entirely removed from the show without any change in the storyline. Terrible developments. The only thing that redeemed it a little bit was the cozy final dinner scene. It was one last lick of the profound mystery that characterized the first couple of seasons.
We just finished it. I’m still processing what I think about it. My first thought was that it was a lot more confusing than it needed to be, They could have pared down a few subplots and thinned the cast of characters, and it would have been a better show. Maybe two seasons instead of three.
But I have to give props to the show for its audacity. Time travel stories are not easy, and this one attempted to be as twisty as it gets. Anc they did finish at a clear ending which was obviiusly planned, so it was no Lost.
One thing that’s bugging me - the seemingly random way in which Martha’s facial wounds kept moving from one side to the other. I kept thinkjng this was a clue to something but I don’t know if it was. I even entertained the idea that it was just a filming error - that they spliced in some film backwards and didn’t see it in time. But then it kept happening, so there had to be a point to it. And yet, there was only one Martha who was scarred, from one universe. Maybe they had another twist in mind, and dropped it at the end?
