These days, any kind of porn can be found and downloaded in a quick google search or via P2P. So does anyone actually buy porn anymore? I don’t so much mean Playboy, where there’s plenty of non-porn reasons to buy, or DVDs, that may be more convenient for people, but more like subscription porn sites.
I’ve been tempted before, upon finding a, er, performer I’m particularly fond of, to subscribe to their site. Sure, I could probably find everything on the site via other channels, but it might be nice to one-stop shop, as it were. Never taken the plunge, though. Plus, I don’t know how much I can really trust random porn sites with credit card numbers.
I never have, and never have been tempted too. I find all I need on P2P, and far, far more.
However, if you are going to take the plunge and are concerned about your credit card, maybe your card company is like mine and allows one to make a temporary one-use number for just such an occasion.
I don’t know if this counts, but I had a subscription to “cinemanow.com”.
They offerred viewing of numerous titles in a number of genres. Some happenned to be porn, some happened to be mainstream Hollywood films in a variety of genres, some were “film student shorts”.
It was a lot easier to justify spending $9.95 a month on a wide variety of films than it would have been justifying spending that on porn.
I eventually cancelled the subscription when I started cutting back all expenses, and wound up too busy to watch movies of any character.
I suppose the advoation of getting porn via P2P is as much against board rules as using it to download music. Porn is copyright, after all. However, big porn sites have far more than you could hope to see from P2P - or at least you can choose what to look at, before you spend time downloading the big files.
We have at least one pornographer member - search for abby, or look here for her rather old ‘ask the pornographer’ thread. (I also highly recommend her site …)
One of my friends (and no, that is not a euphamism for “me”), once used his credit card to pay for one of the run-of-the-mill lesbian porn sites. It was $30 a month, and he tried to cancel the subscription after the first month, but they kept charging his card for another 3.
Not worth it, IMHO, but I’m not that big on porn to begin with.
I piad a dollar once for one of those ID things that let you get past the “kids go away” screens, and I once bought a month of access to a news site upon which the anchors happened to take their clothes off in the course of the newscast, does that count?
I paid for a month of topbear.com once, because they lulled me in with promises of full-length movies. These movies did in fact exist, and I thought that I could be sneaky and download the movie from their link. Nope, they’ve thought of that. What about downloading something to record the movie from the stream? Nope, that didn’t work either. So I cancelled it before the end of the month. (The month I chose was Christmas Break, so that I wouldn’t have classes interfering with masturbation.
Wow. The only time I’ve ever paid for porn and the site turns out to be run by a doper. Small world, or something.
No longer a subscriber there, after some point I just couldn’t justify paying for porn, but I will second the recommendation of her site. Very professional. And, um, great pics and vids
There is also an excellent ‘amateur’ site in a bulletin board like system that costs $25.00 for 1 year and is non-recurring. Name is Redclouds. It is the best buy for seeing many pictures of great looking naked ladies from all ethnic and racial backgrounds. Pictures are posted by their owners (couples mostly). It’s not a free-for-all with stolen content like Usenet. The many sexy Latinas there make it a definite plus.
I occasionally will pay for a Giganews Usenet account that I read with Agent newsreader. Mostly for movies.
Not all of it. I think some porn sites put videos on P2P to promote their site. I’m not too sure but, I really hope I don’t get a letter from my modem company about downloading copyrighted porn.
I used to have a policy of not paying for anything on the internet. I figured that anything I have to pay for I could find for free. Can’t find anything like Straight Dope though.
Ugh. Never, ever give an e-mail address that you intend to use again to any kind of online adult service. Their 5,000,000,000 affiliate sites will spam you to your friggin’ grave.
In fact, unless you have great connections (and are more than a little lucky), just about any kind of online porn is generally more trouble than its worth. Y’know what, I think a lot of us were too quick to write off the paper variety. Don’t have to worry about server connections or startup time, and Playboy has no interest in flooding your inbox with a gazillion sites that you’re never going to give a dime to.
…
No, of course I’m not kidding. I already had to abandon one e-mail address.
Hmmm…I’ve never been flooded by spam from anything I’ve signed up to (porn or otherwise). As with any ‘sign up HERE!’ situation, make sure it’s a reputable company - and such things does actually exist within the porn industry.
People even pay for skimpy clothing. I used to be a member of a non-nude website and I always wondered why the heck people would pay to see us girls in clothing that people wear in public, especially when there is so much free porn on the net. However, I can see why people would pay for fetish stuff.
Haven’t you ever told a guy, “Take a picture, it lasts longer!”?
That’s probably the premise. They find your body/dress sexy but they can’t act on their desires in a public setting.
Pay for computer porn? You mean apart from my monthly internet service charge? When there’s sites that do the hunting for you and provide links to free galleries, categorized by what you may be fond of? I have some air I’d like to sell you if you don’t mind!
You’d be hamburger before you got through a fraction of the links provided on … er … at least two such sites I can think of. I can’t imagine paying for something that’s free & easy to obtain.
